The protein and water and excercise will put you on the path to loosing faster.. I walk 2 miles a day. Sometimes twice a day. And now it is like I crave my walk. I use to dread it. But now it is like my body wants it. You are doing great !!! Barb

Hold on everyone...what is all this talk about only 20 pounds or 30 pounds. There was a time when we couldn't lose that much in 8 weeks if we tried. Trust the process, if you're doing everything your suppose to be doing, the weight will come off. I've read dozens of journals on OH, and this is common for newbies. Have patience, and the rewards will come to you. Focus on the positive, and stop playing the negative tapes. Linda

You're not getting in enough water it seems. You're suppose to be at at least DOUBLE that amt of water. (more than 64 oz. my Doc said at least 80-90 oz of water a day) That probably is one thing setting you back. I had surgery 9.29.05 and have lost 40 pounds. I got stuck for about 2 days and then started really drinking the water and the next day I lost 1.5 pounds. Now that I get all my water in I see a loss of a pound a day and some days I don't get all my protein in, but my water is a must. I think if you drink more water and keep up the protein you'll work through that plateau you've hit. Good luck !

Hi Stephanie You and I have a lot in common: We both had surgery the same day with Dr. Higa and I'm frustrated beyond belief. I lost between 25-30 pounds (depending on the day) total. I lost that weight in the first week and a half. For the last month, I've lost nothing - zip, zilch, nada. I eat between 60-100 grams of protein a day, drink more than 100 oz. of water and get my vits and low to no carbs and I'm stuck. I finally put the freaking scale away so I'm not tempted to get on it, because it just frustrates me. I've been someone who has been honest about my surgery and it's tough when people say, "How much have you lost this week?" and I have to say nothing. It feels like I'm doing something wrong (in my diet plan) when I know that I'm not. I'm just taking it one day at a time and I figure it will just be a matter of time before the scale begins to move (not that I will know, because it's put away LOL). I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and try not to stress. Hang in there girl! Kristine Lap RNY 9/30/05

my surgery was on the 28th. I had to go back in for a week because of an infection. When I saw my surgeon he said he wasn't worried about the weight loss yet just to get my protein in for healing. So far since I have seen him for consultation in May ,I have lost about 39 pounds. I weigh less now than I did 3 years ago ! I'm still sore have to walk around with this wound vac ( which adds more weight to carry around) I look at it this way. It took me all my life to get to where I was and if it takes a while for me to lose it then I'm happy as long as I am not gaining! I will probably start to worry when I hit a 4 week stall but as long as I don't gain I will be happy. Sandy
