I have heard from so many and my doctor. They are off limits for life. They can stretch your pouch. Please check with your doctor Take Care Barb

my surgeon says a big NO WAY to carbonation. The bubbles stretch the pouch and are not good! As addicted as I was to Diet Coke/Pepsi it is not off limits ... funny thing...I don't even miss it hugssss...Linda

Carbination is a no, no with WLS patients...if you leave it out overnight and let the fizz get out of it (make it flat) then you can drink it for the flavor. (as per my surgeon) Other than that, I'm off of it for good... paula

Wow - see now my surgeon says no for 6 months and Never with a straw... So I would check with your surgeon. I don't miss the soda though as I would only drink a couple of Sprite a week, so no loss to me. The water on the other hand is a BIG loss for me... boohoo

I had the DS surgery and about 2 weeks ago I started drinking regular Pepsi. I had a pill stuck in my throat (calcium---horse pill!) and I was out of water so I reached for my BF's pepsi and ahhh!! The bubles took the pill away and mmm did it taste good! I was NEVER a soda drinker pre-op so I was kinda shocked that I liked it but I think a lot of that is because I have cut a lot of sugar out of my diet and it is SWEET as all get out! Since then I have had maybe 1/4 cup of it a day, using it to help me burp when I just can't seem to. I always drink it while eating cause A) thant's when my BF has it and I only sip his and B) that's when I feel like I need to burp My doc doesn't reccomend it but he has told me that I can drink carbonated diet drinks poured over ice to let some fizz out...but I detest diet drinks...they give me a nasty headache about 30 mins after drinking them. So far I haven't had a problem with it and I haven't had it slow down my loss (44 pounds down this morning) Off to find something to eat.. I have no ideas lately for new food...I'm so bored with what I have been eating... ugg! ~Nim
