I am so scared of doing this.Like tonight I had 3ozs of ground turkey with tomato sauce and cheese.I see alot of people only eat 2ozs at each meal and I`m like oh no I ate 3ozs am I gonna stretch my pouch? I worry about this alot.Oh and I ate the 3ozs in 45 minutes.I was just cleared to eat anything after a month of liquid diet and I worry I might be going a little too gong ho lol.The good news is I am down 35lbs.

Hi Michelle,
Did your surgeon give you guidelines to follow as far as quantities to eat and at what stages?
My surgeon gave me a packet of info prior to surgery and I've been following that. It states that in stage 5, solid foods, not to eat more that 1-2 oz at first because (though the staple lines are practly healed) it is possible to stretch it out or pull it apart.
I'm eating 1 oz of meat at a meal and that's a lot for me. Then I'm eating 1/4 cup of something else to compliment the meal and that's after I'm done with the protein.
I do eat about 3 oz of cottage cheese though.
Just wanted to answer you and let you know what "my rules" are!

Hi Michelle, I too get scared sometimes that I may be pushin it, but believe me, only 1 bite too much & my body lets me know!! My surgeon said that after surg our stomach can only hold 1 or 2 oz, but by a month or so it can be as much as 3 or 4 because the swelling goes down, etc. That plus the fact that you ate so slowly should be working well. I still have to remind myself to eat slow (or pay the price!). Congrats on the wt loss, yahoooooo! That's 35 lbs you'll NEVER see again!

If that was all you ate it should be fine especially in 45 min. I too notice if i eat 3 oz it takes longer and i go real slow. I cut down to two oz of meat if im adding a vege and a carb but always get my protein in first and try to eat vege second , i tend to leave part of the tablespoon of carbs behind. I also find the softer the food is or the more liquid you can eat a little more. Soup for instance or cottage cheese because things like that slide through more quickly.
