Yeah, you really should (nodding pointedly at the doctor's office). So it sounds like you're both revamping your lives! Good luck with child #3. At least one thing lucky about being a male with WLS - you don't *have* to wait the 1-2 years like women do, because your weight loss won't affect the pregnancy! *laugh* I hope it works out for you - and if not, you can always adopt another one. (Or Adopt one of the furry kind - they're a lot like children sometimes) --BT

I approched my doctor about it. I don't think she would have ever brought it up. Jerry

OK, I am a Guy too. I had mine on 9/13/05. I am SOOOO happy I did it! I've lost 29lbs so far. My guess why men don't do it would be that they don't feel society come down on them as much as women do. How many magazines make a big deal if a guy gains weight compared to women in Hollywood, let alone in the American society. Sure there are plenty of pressures of how FAT the American society has gotten. I could go grab any of the magazines my wife gets and most if not all have something about "Lose 2 dress sizes this" and "Try the Blah, Blah diet". Women get the brunt of it. I did it for my health. I didn't do it because I cared what anyone else thought. I want to be there to spend time with my family. At the rate I was going it definitely wouldn't have happened. Jerry

It's very hard to find men who've had, or want to have WLS. It's sad too, because I think a guy who's been thru the same things as me (pertaining to weight issues) would be a wonderful guy to get to know. I forget who said it on here, but what she said was true. Most males don't think of WLS as an option until about 400 or so pounds. It's okay to be a 'husky guy'... (Actually, I find it very sexy!) But when most people mention 'thick girls', they mean someone with only 30-50 extra pounds! (No fair!) Just my 2 cents! Amanda

You're right, its not fair. I've always thought "thick girls" were far sexier than those skeletons we see in Hollywood.

Speaking of which - have you heard the new country song "XXL" You know it HAS to be about a guy, because if a woman were singing "You know the boys love a double XL" she'd be laughed out of the studio - unless she were talking about her chest. I like the husky guys too. For some reason, a guy who is underweight or slim just looks puny to me - like he'd blow away in a wind storm. I interpret a bigger guy as a strong one - someone who is capable of taking care of stuff. --BT

That is currently my VERY FAVORITE country song on now!!! I think that's so hot... You don't even know. (Well, maybe you do!) I like a guy who's big. As long as he is healthy, can get around without pain, have fun/play with (me!) and the kids... hehe I love a big man. I'm wondering though, if that's gonna change as I get smaller? Will shorter and thinner men start to catch my attention? I don't think so, but it's a possibility. ;o) Amanda Leigh
