Binder is rubbing my incision
Is anyone else having a problem with their incision. My binder is rubbing my incision at the bottom near ny belly botton. It leaked last night.. I am going to take it off a few days and not over do it. The rest of my incision looks great.. My cut is 10 -1/2 inches.
2 inches of the incision is acting up anyone else have this problem.

Our hospital recommended to buy the mens "A" tank top tee shirts, and wear them under the binder. I brought them to the hospital with me. They worked great! They were about 6 bucks for a pack of 3 at Walmart.
THen, around the house, just wore it on top of my clothes or nightgown.
I'm not wearing mine anymore..surgeon told me to wear it for my comfort now, and I found it was making me more nauseaus than doing good.

Go to the store and get the biggest maxi-pads you can find, then wear it over your incision, under the binder. (You can find them 11"-16" long)
This will help both pad the incision to protect it, as well as give you something to absorb any fluid that may still be leaking out. My incision leaked up until about ten days ago I think, and that's how I've been keeping it (per my doctor's instructions).

Hi Barb, my surgery was the 28th. I had been using the binder because of the leaking also. I was using just about anything pads, towels whatever to absorb the drain but when It started coming out my sutures and smelling I called my dr. I was told to come in. Turns out I had an infection so I was admitted because it was bad. So I was reopened and was "packed with a wet/dry gause until most of the infection was cleared up then he put in a "wound vac" that will stay in place until I heal more. They say it heals from the inside . The first time they turned it on was painful. I have since learned to take my pain meds before it is changed. I came home on Oct 14 and now have home aids coming 3 times a week to change the "vac" . I am using the binder more than I thought I would . After putting it over my clothing it feels better. I also found out that when you put the closure on the side not over your insision it feels better also.
