Head Hunger
Is anyone else having a really hard time with head hunger? It's easy to say "no I won't eat that" now because, obviously, we can't. But I am worried about later. In about a year when we are able to eat just about anything low sugar low fat....will I be able to say NO! to my head hunger then? Is anyone else worried about this or am I wacko? lol

Beth ,
Thats part of the blessing of starting from scratch again so to speak , Hopefuly by the time we CAN do it we will have trained ourselves NOT to do it.
I have seen posted on these boards before, "Just becouse you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD." If you work on the issue of recognising head hunger and dealing with it now it should be easier to handle further out.
I was thinking the other day maybe the reason peoples tastes change after this surgary is maybe becouse it's no so easy to just ingulf a meal and move on. We now have to eat slow and calculated and think about how it tastes , how well it's chewed, and it gives us more time to savor the experience. I was wondering How many people pre- op actualy recal the last time they sat down and actualy tasted and enjoyed what they ate or were they just doing it becouse it was there, it was habit, it was a meal on the run and so on.
Hope you find a way to deal with the head hunger, good luck.
Hugs,
Shel
Hi Beth,
I had a terrible case of "head hunger" last night while watching tv. Those damm commercials can really get ya!
Yes, I'm worried about how my "head" will feel vs my "body" both now and in the future. We've undergone a huge physical ordeal, and will continue to with a huge weight loss...then it'll be time to deal with the "emotional/head" stuff...
I'm glad we have each other here to ask questions, give support and advice and opinions...without it, I think I'd be SO confused and upset.
You're not alone my dear...we've all been gorging outselves for SO many years, to now knowing that we suddenly have this total lifestyle and behavioral change and sometimes it's hard to grasp.
Someone once said that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit...so, I'm hoping that my head will catch on to this new way of life soon! If not, I'll be heading towards the shrink's couch!

I am still on a liquid diet since my surgery. However, there have been a few times when I have wanted a taste of something so badly, such as my chicken salad. I went ahead and took the bite and chewed it and enjoyed the taste. Then I spit it out before I swallowed it. I got the benefit of the taste, but didn't eat something I shouldn't. May sound gross, but it worked for me.
