Hi everyone, Has anyone tried ff popcorn or sugar free peanut butter since their surgery. I am trying to find something to stay down. I am 51/2 weeks post op and I am so nauseated I could die. I spent all last night in emergency with chest and stomach pains. They said it was probably gastritis. I really feel lousy today, but I feel like if I could have something with salt or peanuts it might settle my stomach. Any advice will be a great help.

I tryed peanut butter in one of my protein shakes. I put a teaspoon in. It was good. I am one of those people who can tolerate anything. I do not know how long that will last. I hope it doesnt last to long. I dont want to be able to eat anything, Take Care Barb

I actually had some reduced fat peanut butter and sugar free jelly on some melba toast for dinner and am not feeling to well righ now. I am very gassy and had some dry heaves before. I am not dumping from it, but I certainly feel as though I will not eat this again any time soon. I would like to know about popcorn...that's a great snack.

I would stay far away from popcorn if I were you. I heard from my nutritionist that there are parts of the kernel that are really hard on the pouch. Please don't do it, it will not help settle your stomach. That is too bad about the pains. Maybe go back to all liquids until things settle down. Chicken broth, etc. I wonder if your pouch is trying to tell you something. amy

I Had my surgery rny on 9/19 and I have been nauseated all the time. Sometimes crackers help and sometimes not. Sometimes a little watered down juice would help. I am not able to eat anything with splenda or artificial sugar, that puts me right over the edge. Also all those proteins shakes I liked before surgery I can't stand now. I go back to the Dr Friday, hopefully he will have some ideas. Also I lost 18lbs the first week and only 2lbs in the last 2 weeks. I know I need to dring more but even water makes me nauseated. Someone told me to try sugar free gnger snaps but I couldn't find them. Good Luck! Annette

va girl, I had my surgery 9/13/05 and am still on purreed foods. I would be afraid to try anything like popcorn. Arent you still on purreed foods. Do you eat small amounts and slowly? Drink your water . I haven't tried peanut butter yet eather. I go back to the doctor on the 19th and I should be put on phase 3 of the diet, which is soft foods, I'm not real sure what that will include, but it has to be better than purreed foods. Carol

Hi Carol: No, I'm not on pureed, I am on soft foods, over cooked veggies and canned chicken and tuna. But I can't eat very much of it. Iam eating about 2 - 3 ounces per meal. I know I'm not drinking enough water but I do get about 32oz of crystal light with my protein mixed in and about 16 oz of water. I am trying to increase my liquid intake. Ruth
