surgery 9/9/05...weight loss 22 in first 2 weeks...0 nada zilch in 3rd week..driving me crazy..depressing me. I am losing inches (I think because my clothes are baggy) but I'm not losing pounds. I am not going to weigh myself until Friday (4 weeks post op) and see if there is any change...if not...any suggestions??????? I am drinking as much water as I can handle and taking in plenty of protein..I'm even walking every day! Linda

Linda, I am in the same boat. I had surgery the same day 9/9/05. I lost 37 lbs in 2 weeks and I have actually gained 2 pounds. I can't figure that one out. I keep hearing don't get on the scale every day. I am waiting until Fri. also to weigh myself. I believe this is normal for the 3 week stall. Don't let it get you down. Keep drinking your water, getting your protein and vitamins and you should be fine. I am not letting it get to me, because I am still down 35 lbs. Susan

Hi almost 4 weeks out here as well--I'm glad I found this board! My scale keeps playing up and down with the same 2-3 lbs since last week! It's VERY frustrating! I keep being told to stay off the scale and throw it out! I don't go back to my Surgeon's office until 10/26 though... I keep having those "it's not working" thoughts and that I'll be the only one. Sigh. Good luck everybody! Shellie -24 lbs at 3 weeks out

Linda, You are doing fine, women have an added bonus to stall weight loss once a month, any guesses? I had the same thing happen, and even gained weight a little, it seems I lose for a week, stall for a week, get my period and then loose for a week, stall for a week, get my period... yes, I'm getting it every other week right now, not fun! But since hormones are stored in fat it makes sense that they are going nutty. The times you do better are when you stick to your schedule and follow the "rules" don't over do it. Also, exercise helps. I haven't been able to yet due to exhaustion (my c-pap mask no longer fits cuz of weight loss in my face!!) but I am trying to get a good amount in. HUGS to you, I'm feeling the same way, I see people who have lost the same amount as me in half the time and I'm going nutty, but do the math, would you have lost 22 lbs in 2 weeks (or even a month) any other way? I was coming on here to post something similar! I lost 13 lbs the first week, nothing the 2nd, 4 the 3rd and nothing again for about a week now. My period IS due on Sunday, and things may be different now, but I never gained or stalled before while PMSing. I also have cried thinking that I could have lost this amount of weight in 4 weeks without the surgery (as I have before). I am really very frustrated. I talked to my dietician, and he told I'm doing everything right, so to stick with it and maybe up my exercise from 20 minutes a day to 30 if I feel up to it, which I do, so I did that this week. 2 miles in 30 minutes!! I get really down when I see how much weight others have lost in a shorter period of time than me. I know I only have 100lbs to lose till I am at a healthy weight, but so are alot of other people. A stall right now is perfectly normal - happens to almost everyone. Someone posted something really scientific once to explain it, but basically it's your body's way of regrouping and trying to figure out what the heck happened. So temporarily, it holds ground until it can decide on a new game plan. Then you'll start losing again. (I dont' know that I'm stalled, but my weight has been the same for three days, so I may be in the beginning of a stall - and my three weeks will be Thursday) --BT

Linda, thanks for posting. I just posted the same thing in the August board. I had my lap RNY on 8-29 and lost 21 pounds the first 2 weeks and have now stalled the last 3 weeks and a day. However, I am just finishing up my first period since surgery and actually 30 days before surgery and from what Rachel says, maybe that had something to do with it. I'm hoping in the next couple of days things are going to pick back up again. You're not alone and apparently this is normal for us, so hang in there.

Wow guys! I am going to have my husband hide my scale now. I am only going to weigh at the Doc's until after my six week check up. I have read a lot of profiles start to finish and they all have periods of stalling. Some for even a month or longer. But, they all start loosing again without fail. I am going to try and forget about the short term and just try to look ahead to milestones. Thanksgiving, Christmas (when I hope to be in Onederland), etc. I am a WLS light weight so chances are I will lose slower than most of you. I am hoping to have lost around 60 pounds by the time summer gets here. Then I can take the kids to the pool without feeling like a huge whale. However, I promised myself a long time ago that I was not going to let the way I look keep my kids from doing anything. Even if it meant me being in public in a huge bathing suit. Which I have for the last two seasons. So gang...here's to a better summer to all of us and away with the scales on a daily basis. God bless you all. Jacinda

I totally understand. I'm only 2 weeks out though. I lost 17 the first week, then dropped the other 3 the day after my one week, got my period the next day, and the scale hasn't moved in a week. I talked to my dr yesterday about it and he didn't seem concerned. I feel skinner, my streach marks are not expanded anymore on my stomach, but I wanna see that scale go down!

Yep, stalled here too. Sucks big time, doesn't it? I lost 13 lbs pre-op, then 17 lbs almost right away. I have been stuck at my current week for 1.5 weeks now. In retrospect I guess it hasn't been that long, but time seems to drag on. I have lost inches as I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in years, so that makes it a little better. Plus, I should be starting my period within the next week. Chin up ladies and gentlemen, keep your spirits high! We'll get there Shannon LAP RNY 9/14/05 275/245/140
