I feel like barfing all the time...ugh... Even water makes me feel ill. Today I -ed for the first time, Im glad it didn't hurt... I was worried it would. I started taking the prilosec the Doctor gave me to see if that would help at all, but it didn't. I'm so new out I'm of course not hungery, couple that with the fact that I feel like I want to everytime I eat really makes eating a chore. Anyone have any insight on this!?!?!?! Thanks! A lot of people have trouble with straigh****er immediately after surgery - try something like tea or Crystal Lite, or popsicles, to get in your liquids. It's so important to drink fluids to heal. Also, the Prilosec is good for long term issues, but not in the short term. Ginger tea may help. Or take a chewable tablet like Pepto Bismal to help get over the short term hump. We had different surgeries, so what I can eat isn't necessarily what's going to sit well for you. --BT

Might try some maalox. Dr told me to take it if I needed.

Erin, I feel the same way, had my surgery lap last week (9/28) and am having such a hard time getting anything down. I am forcing myself to sip slowly, but I just feel so sick and full and like I am going to trow up all the time. Let me know if you find anything that works for you.

Erin, What were you trying to eat besides the water? I know that I was feeling the same way and I had to go back to strickly liquids. Pretty much the new foods that I was trying to eat were not setting well with me at all. Did you feel this way when you first came home or did it recently start? I hope you are feeling better soon. I am finding now that I have more sensitivity to smells and certain smells trigger nausea. I usually drink some peppermint or ginger tea. That always settles my pouch.

My doctor advised me to sniff rubbing alcohol (it worked great at the hospital), and caffeine-free peppermint herbal tea. Also, try drinking warm water or tea before you try to eat. If you eat and feel nauseus, skip the next meal and drink something warm again until you feel better. Then try to eat again. These are the instructions given to me by my surgeon. I've only needed to try the peppermint tea once since I came home from the hospital a little over a week ago, but it worked. Pam
