Take to the hospital?
Amy,
It's true, SNHMC gave me lip balm, toothbrush ( soft ) and toothpaste, washcloths, lotion, and warm socks for my feet. I needed nothing, except my protein shake, and we don't need that until the day we're leaving. ( or 4th day of hospital stay ). I wore my "johnny" at all times, there's no need for a nightgown. You could bring a robe, bu I don't have one, so I wore another "johnny" backwards, like a cape, to cover my backside
Slippers are NOT needed, unless you wanna fuss to put the on and off, because you will NOT be able to bend over. You'll walk everywhere in your slipper socks that they give you tomorrow morning.
love,
Kym
Hi Amy! Good luck tomorrow! I'll keep you in my thoughts for a safe and speedy recovery!
I brought my own lotion, chapstick, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush and tooth paste, and a robe. I did not bring slippers and never really needed them. The slipper socks worked just fine for me. The hospital will provide all your bathroom items if you wish, but they also charge you for them.
I also brought a book (I read 1.5 pages while in the hospital so I could have done without it). I also brought a puzzle book...which my family did but I never touched. It was nice for them to have something to do while I was sleeping.
I also brought some crystal light for my water. The hospital did have some but they only had one flavor.
Good luck on your journey!
Tami
hi there
take as little as possible prehaps a crossword thingy for your family. I had that family used it i couldnt be bothered. I did bring a comfortable change of clothes that i changed into to get out of the hospital clothes it made me feel alot better. Third day i was in hospital i felt good enought to go for a shower and change of clothes. As far as lotions or what not you will not be in the mood for em youll sleep alot and walk and get tired from this and sleep some more. TV i didnt even watch that. pack lightly as all youll really need is a hospital gown and slipper socks and something to moisten your lips chapstick or a sponge dipped in water.
thats about it.
regards

Amy ,
I had surgery last week. The first 3 days are the hardest then its is all up hill. I send you all my prayers. Remember to walk as soon as you can after surgery. The more I walk the faster I heal. and keep sipping on ice at hospital and water to keep from bladder infections. Get your fluids in. I had open surgery. I took to much stuff with me. All I used out of my bag was the hairbrush face lotion chap stick and camera. and my out fit home and a extra fluffy pillow for your stomach.
I feel great 7 days out.
I send you all my best wishes. Remember it all goes uphill
Take Care
Barb
