The wonder of Splenda!!

Hello everyone, Had my surgery on Tuesday and since I was feeling a little restless, decided to hit the computer (it's just after midnight). Boy, are things different for each of us. I was reading posts from others with recent surgery dates ... and what a world of difference. My doctor has all of his patients on the same eating plan, at least there were 30 of us at the nutrition meeting. That was: normal eating, but a light supper the night before surgery. Then, clear liquids the day of surgery, full liquids the next day, purered the the next day and then, for the balance of 8 weeks ...real food as long as it is "mushy and moist", "light and crunchy" "protein or veg/fruit" ... So... I came home on Thursday..2 1/2 days after surgery and I've been eating scrambled eggs, hardboiled eggs, split pea soup, chili, bananas, SF popsicles, fish sticks (without the breading) smashed macaroni and cheese. Everything has stayed down. I had minor nausea in the hospital for the first day, and painful stomach the second day...but the muscle relaxer drug took care of that. Since I've been home I've been using only Tylenol fast release capsuls for pain and usually go 5-6 hours between. The worst has been the awful taste of my regular medications ground up. In the hospital they mixed them with water and I followed that with rasberry crystal light. But still the bitter taste....then tonight I mixed Splenda with the medicine and water and VOILA!! ... still followed with the crystal light sip but no real overpowering bitter taste. I've been walking everyday ...and up and down all day. Maybe one cat nap a day for 30 minutes or so. But, then I also do not have any drains to deal with....just staples, and a hugh brusied stomach that pulls when I try to turn over ... so I'm sleeping in the recliner. Hopefully this good trend will continue, but I won't expect to not have some bad days. May those of you having bad days, begin to have some good ones! Jody
