I spent the first day home doing nothing but sleeping. I would wake up, pop a pain pill, change the DVD and go back to sleep. I slept like that for a little over 24 hours. Hospitals are not a good place for sleeping and so I needed to catch up. Also, there is that whole thing with your body feeding your energy into healing..so you will need more sleep.

you're right about hospitals not being the place to sleep. My husband didn't sleep for the four days he was there. and he still says he is so tired and at time dizzy.

Kathy, I am just 2 weeks post op from lap RNY. I have not been in the bed in the daytime since I was in the hospital. don't get me wrong I would have loved to came home curled up with a good movie and some pain pills and slept for a good day and night. I have 3 small kids , one being just 10 months. So I was busy from the time I walked in my door at home. I was afraid to sit still too long because I did not want to develop any blood clots. I think it is good that I have things to keep me busy and keep me moving. The more you lay around the more tired you will be. I promise if you go out for a nice long walk you will feel better. I hate doing it and I have to make myself but in the end I am always glad I did it. PLus the more you more the quicker the soreness will go away if it hasn't already. All my soreness was gone when I left the hospital because all I did was walk, walk, walk. I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck. Tina Lap RNY-Cr.Champion-9/7/5 273/254/140
