Yesterday I had my final preop visit. While talking with my surgeon he let out a nugget that those anticipating surgery should know. MOST surgeons will cancel your surgery if you 1. do not have your diabetes under control. this is an indicater of the inability to stick to a diet. 2. if you GAIN wt. before the surgery. this indicates the lack of commitment. so, before you think of pigging out the last few weeks before surgery---DON"T!! That pizza may cost you more than a few pounds!

I HAD MY SURGERY ON SEPT. 6,2005. I DID NOT HAVE TO DIET BEFORE SURGERY. I"M ALSO A DIABETIC. MY NUMBERS WEREN'T EVEN CHECKED PRIOR TO SURGERY. THEY DID TAKE ME OFF MY DIABETIS MEDS AS SOON AS I HAD MY SURGERY. I GUESS I'M JUST LUCKY OR MY DOCTOR IS THE BEST. DIANA

I'm scheduled for surgery on Wed.the 28th of Sept. I'm a self pay and so far haven't had to go through all the hoops but I appriciate the heads up cuz I've been eating all my favs, but I don't want to get into any trouble. The Dr's office is supposed to have sent me my pre-op diet stuff today. Oh well, it's not like I feel all that grand for pigging out today anyway....slap my hands!!!! Fortunatly my diabetes is under control anyway but my BP sure was up when I went in to get blood work and EKG today. I really am looking forward to getting this over (surgery) but it won't be easy(post-op). Just glad to have a good support system! Keep in contact and see you, you loser!
