Hi: As far as I know, it's not necessarily the insurance company but the policy your employer purchased from them. For example where I work that didn't purchase the "whole package" and chose to not get the part that covered weight loss anything. Not much information, but I hope it helps a little. Congrats on being two weeks out and doing great. I'm getting my "bandster" in one more week and I can't wait!! Smiles, Karrie

I have BCBS and they will pay for mine except for my 1800 max pay. I think it depends on which STATE of BCBS (mine is Minnesota) and if your employer puts any exculsions on their policy. Brika

I HAVE BLUECROSSBLUESHIELD THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT. I FOUGHT WITH THEM FOR 6 MONTHS TO APPROVE ME. I FINALLY GOT APPROVED AND HAD MY SURGERY ON SEPT 6, 2005. I HAD TO THE DOCTOR 3 THOUSAND AND THE HOSPITAL 300.00 BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ON MY PLAN. I HAD TO GO TO VICTORIA, TX BECAUSE THIS SURGERY IS NOT DONE IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TX.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield with the government NE State Medicaid and I was able to get them to approve me after my 2nd appeal. I do not have to pay any out of pocket expenses for the surgery since they determined that it is medically necessary for the procedure. Julie Main
