Seems like every smell of food makes me queasy and I'm can't seem to do anything bu****er for the clear liquid portion of the healing. Tomorrow I start full liquids. I hope all goes well. Any tricks for overcoming nausea? The pharmacist thought it might be the pain meds, I've begun to cut them down now. Appreciate any hints. Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen! Sorry to hear that you're so nauseous. I can tell you from past experience when I had throat surgery, the liquid pain medicine made me so nauseous that I ended up dehydrated and in the emergency room! It wasn't until that trip to the ER that anyone told me that the pain meds can cause extreme nausea....not sure why they don't warn us. I don't know what your level of pain is, but maybe you can talk to your doc about the possibility of liquid tylenol? Good luck to you! My surgery is in Dayton, OH on the 26th. xoxox, Karen C. hi Sweetie, Congrads on the surgery. Mine is set for Monday. I am also a nurse. Here are 2 things that help 1, take pain meds with pudding or protien shakes. they coat the tummy. 2. eat a soda cracker. wait 5' and take meds with sip of milk. Do not lay down for 30 min God bless!
