Banded for a week and doing well!!!
Hi everyone! I can finally manage to type a bit on my computer without feeling like i'm leaning forward too much and squashing my tummy. Well- it's been a week and a bit since I was banded. I'm down 16 pounds already! I know it won't last at that rate, but it's nice to have some encouragement when you're feeling like crap post-op. My recovery is going okay. I had the lapband down, plus my gallbladder out, and am finally starting to feel decent 8 days out. But I know my body and i'm a slow recoverer in general. I still am sore where they put in the port, it's weird feeling it under my skin. I'm on thick liquids, and slowly adding a few mushies here and there, although it's hard learning to listen to my band and stop even if something tastes good! But in general i love that the band tells me to stop, and hope i'm doing everything correctly. Haven't been able to exercize other than walking gently, but there'll be time for that soon enough. I drove today for the first time, and it was fine.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask away!
A few more things i learned:
it's SO SO SO nice to get on a scale and not be afraid because you know it will be going lower and not higher.
Stay away from cold things for at least a week. OUCH.
Stock up on gas-ex. I didn't have any, and walked off my gas, but i've heard it can help with some of the gas, although not all of it.
Bring a sippy cup to the hospital to sip water while you walk the halls.
You will feel a LOT better in a week!
We can do this!
