Michelle, I am not taking a robe or gown because it will be easier to wear the gowns the hospital offers and then I don't have to worry about gooky gunk on my stuff. Plus with ivs and catheters and stuff, easier with snapping sleeves. I am taking Burt's Bees Lip Balm, my pillow, hair brush, shampoo and condition, Dial Body Wash, (they say that is best for cleaning incisions), body lotion, my bedroom slippers, two books, a pad of paper and pencil, my cell phone and a little bit of make up just in case I feel up to putting a little face on. Plus a pair of really big sweat pants in case the jeans I wear to the hospital make my drain tube sore to wear home. Not to mention they will make me feel like I am losing weight already. Best of luck and blessings!

Thanks for the idea. I was taking a robe but I did not think about the IV situation. You make a good point. I did not know about the Dial body wash but thanks for the heads up I will go out and get some. You also reminded me about my lip balm. I had completely forgotten. I am taking a set of PJ's (top and bottom) for when I leave the hospital. I rather be nice and comfy then wearing a pair of jeans. Anyways, thanks for the heads up and I also wish you the best of luck in your surgery. Many Blessings , my prayers will be with you.

Oh Michelle talk to your surgeon about the soap thing. My Surgeon instructed me NOT to get the incisions wet at all. To rinse with saline when changing the bandage

I didn't think about the robe thing either. And I just bought a new one. I guess I will just continue to use it at home. The rest of the items are really great.. I have been thinking about what I needed to bring, and I just couldn't think. I have a week to get it together I guess. Thanks, Jill

Hi Michelle, Good luck on your surgery. I would bring a robe. Sometimes your IV is out by the second day and you will feel better when visitors come or when you are walking. Also someone told me to bring a really good mouthwash. They said by the second day the breath was bad! And definitely bring a good moisture lip balm. God bless you. Annette
