Dreaming about food! :-(
I'm one week post op and still on clear liquids per my surgeon. I can't start full liquids and soft foods until after 9/14 when I see my doctor. I've been very good in following the liquid diet and making sure I reach my daily intake requirement, but the popsicles and jello are already getting old. I'm thinking about food alot; I'm even having dreams about food. Today I made my 3-year old some beefaroni for lunch (I don't like beefaroni) and even his beefaroni looked good. So, I'm a little depressed. I feel full and I've lost 20 pounds so far. I had an uneventfull surgery and recovery so far, but I don't get out of the house much and I'm not allowed to drive yet. Maybe I'm just thinking about food because I'm bored. Anybody else have this problem? Tracie
Tracie,
I am a Barix patient scheduled for surgery on the 21st. My clear liquid diet includes what you wrote, plus soup broth, 50% diluted apple, grape and white grape juice. Maybe you could try new and different sugar free jello's. I know that my post-op friend makes something called Knox Blox with Knox gelatin. The Knox company has a recipe for it---probably could be found on the web. Remember that soon you will be cleared for more foods to eat. Be careful. You don't want to dump or sabotage yourself. Congratulations on the 20 pounds! WOW! One week and 20 pounds! This is just the beginning of your success!

Hi Tracie,
I am 4 daysout and i have expericenced a deep crying spell. I just could not stop. It came upon me suddenly and I think it was because I realized that the jello, juice and broth is all i can have..how I can'twait to even eat creamstyle soup or soupy potatoes hmmm! But I can relateto what you are going through. Keep your head up and walk or something to take your mind off of it! It works for me, I either walk, play with the dog, read or simply rest. Our time for food is coming. Take care of yourself and I hope I loose as much as you have when I go to my first post-op appointment on thurs.9/15. CONGRATS!
Hi Tracie
I am over a week postop and are on full liquids and it is soooo much better than clear liquids. I too had dreams of food when I was on clear liquids and it was quite disturbing. I was like oh no I am obsessed with food. I have cooked big meals for my family everyday and I watch cooking shows daily. I didn't even like to cook before. I just need to be near it and it is helping me with being creative with the full liquids without breaking the rules. Hang it there and hold on you will be ok.
