Can anyone recommend Protein Shakes
Isopure is a good brand, but keep in mind that if you don't use a blender or shake it well that it sticks to a spoon! EAS is another really good one, I prefer it to isopure... has a better taste to it but MUST use a blender or it will clump. Since I prefer the taste blended anyway, it's not a problem for me. Unjury is another really good brand, but more expensive.
Hope this helps!

I use Mega Whey Extreme from GNC. They have a good selection of low carb, high protein shakes there. You can also try www.vitalady.com and buy her sampler kits to taste test a few things out.

Hi Laura:
I recently went to a pre-op class and all the people there were saying how awful the protein shakes are. One of the ladies I spoke to recommended the Protein Delight Smoothies which are sold on the web at http://www.bariatriceating.com Although I have not yet tried them myself (I ordered some yesterday), this person said that they were yummy. She said that the strawberry one even has small pieces of fruit in it. I believe they contain 5g of carbs per serving (my doctor recommended 5g or less per serving). You can also order samples so that you can try them out first. Hope this helps.
All the best,

I am pre-op and on a liquid diet. I use ZPro25, which is offered through a bariatric clinic associated with my doctor's office, but I'm sure it is available online too. It comes in vanilla and chocolate, and they taste wonderful, just like a milkshake! You can also mix it into just a little bit of water and it makes a pudding. Here are the nutritional facts per packet:
Calories - 142
Total fat - 1.5g
Sodium - 200mg
Potassium - 200mg
Total Carbs - 7g
Sugars - 7g
Protein 25g
I do not drink milk so I drnk NECTAR. It mixes with water and tastes just like fruit juice without the nasty protein after taste. It does not have a lot of carbs. My nutritionist recommended it to me and I love it. They have many different flavor. My favorite is Fuzzy navel. It tast like orange juice with peaches
