New surgeon New date.

I saw Dr Lane from Mobile Al today. And he scheduled me right in for surgery READY FOR THE DATE? Sept 19th. I am supposed to show up there at 5am for surgery at 7am. I go for pre op on Friday then go back on Wednesday, then surgery the following Monday. It will be alot of traveling. But soon I will be on the losing side. I dont have to lose anymore weight before surgery not citrate drink and I only fast from 10 pm the nite before surgery. Seems alot easier than the other doctors requirements. WOW so much to do between now and then.

Fl to Mobile??? It sounds like you're in MY neck of the woods. Was your other surgeon here in Pensacola?? Glad you got a September date. And yeah - there's a ton to do in advance. I'm still sitting here wondering if I got everything done, and I leave TOMORROW. --BT

I drive bye you frequently. I live in Panama City. My other surgeon was in Louisiana. I had a place to stay for recovery time there. In Mobile I dont have family there. It is closer but I will have to make more trips. I go back Friday then back again Wednesday. Then surgery the following monday. Good luck to you. And be well. Vickie

Well I saw the new doctor yesterday and got a date. everything is going to happen fast from here. I have to see the pulmonary doc friday for pre op. I know that is the lung doctor, but what will they do friday at my visit? I already had the hpylori test. Thanks Tanya. ~hugs~ Vickie

Not sure what the pulmonary doc will do. This is what happened at my pre-op 1. Nutrition clas at Dr office 2. Admit paperwork 3. Another Blood test 4. Chest X-ray 5. EKG 6. Meet with Anesthesiologist(he took history ,expectations etc.) 7. Met with Nurse for pre/post op requirements/directions, i.e. re: 3 showers in 24 hours w/hypiclens soap 8. Instruction with nurse on spiro meter?(forgot the whole word) ya know that meter you blow in to get your strength back, get meds out of lungs etc... I had no idea she was recording how hard I blew....I now am expected to get up to that after surgery LOL........ Maybe the last thing is what they are gonna do at that pulmonary Dr appointment.. GUESS WHAT???? I don't have to so a bowel cleanse or enema, or 3 day diet etc... Just clear liquids after noon on day before, and nothing after midnight!! Pretty cool HUH???

I dont have to do the bowel cleaning either. I can eat a light meal the night before. Nothing after 10pm. I think it is very cool. I told them the bowel cleansing thing did not break my heart one bit. lol Today I had my boodtests chest xrays and urine test. Tommorrow I see the pulmonary doc, and then the Internal med doc. Wednesday I see the nutritionist. Then monday will be the big day. Are you nervous? I thought I would be but at the moment I am calm about it. I am excited. But not nervous. Of course that could change any minute. We will be on the losing side in no time. Good luck to you.... Vickie
