What do I need to bring to the hospital

My surgeon gives his patients an entire protocol of things to have. Most of it is for the after the hospital though. For the hospital, they say to bring loose clothes for discharge, slippers and a robe for the hospital, anke socks, and for the ladies, to bring a bra one size larger than normal to prevent pressure on top of the incision. I've also been told to bring lip balm. My list for the hospital includes the above (minus the bra), a couple of reading books, a crossword book, a deck of cards, several pens and a notebook for writing notes and things. I'm also bringing toothpaste, toothbrush, comb. I may bring other things but haven't decided yet. My problem is afterwards. I live a couple of hours away from the hospital and will be staying close and am bringing stuff to eat and to keep me comfy with things to do.

Hi John, Thank you for the info. I see your surgery is one day after mine, GOOD LUCK! I can't wait to start feeling better. Do you know the difference in recovery for open RNY and lap?
