post-op recipes
I did not know if anyone was interested in this, but I thought I would post it just in case. I know that the menus my surgeon and nutritionist gave me was full of foods that I did not like and dairy that I can not tolerate. I have been looking into alternative foods...liquid and solid...so I thought I would share with my buddies!!

This is a nice site for the nutritional values of fruit, veggies, nuts and seeds:

I tried and really enjoyed how vegetable juice made me feel. I tried it for a few days and decided to get my own juicer. It just came yesterday!! Yipppepeee!!
The problem is that I cannot find any source of the nutritional values of juiced vegetables. Because the pulp is taken out, the values are not the same as plain fresh veggies. Does anyone know anything about this?
I would like to be able to go to my surgeon armed with good information and try to come up with a menu that includes veggies instead of pudding, jello, cottage cheese, and yogurt.
If anyone had any leads or info, I would really appreciate it!!!
Have a great day!!

Here here sister! I agree! Actually it is quite funny that you posted this. Just this morning I was talking to my husband about how I really don't like pudding and that 3-4 weeks of liguids is going to be very hard if all I will eat is jello and broth. I also thought about pulling out my juicer and trying that out, because my plan says I can have veggie juice, but I dont' care for V-8. Let me know if you find anything out!

PS Thanks for the websites!
I was thinking about the fact that veggies were hard to digest...but from everything I have read and heard from the local healthfood store here...which, by the way, has an MD as an advisor....once the vegetables are juiced, that juice flows through the stomach lining as easily as drinking alcohol...no enzymes are required to break the vegetables down at all.
Carrie...I can't stand V-8 either...so salty and the texture is just odd.
I looked through google searches for a couple hours...found nothing!!!
I am very frustrated!! I have a couple friends looking around for me and will put my hubby on the task...he has been spending a lot of nights on the computer due to insomnia.
I will let ya'll know under a new post if I find anything!!
Let me know if you do!!

Surgery Twin....YEAH!!!
I am getting so nervous...but, like you, only when I have time to stop and think about it!! LOL
I am trying to get my Cub Scout Pack and Webelos Den started, kids go back to school on thursday---in the middle of a tropical storm!! Hubby starts teaching again on Thursday, I am packing my house hoping to stay close to our predicted OCT 8th closing on our new house!!! The list goes on and on........
I also have an appt today for a physical therapy consult for an exercise routine post op...I can't wait. Winter in NY makes it hard to exercise and my house, at least the one I am in now, has no room for me to even do an exercise video!!!! I hate it here!!!
Anyway, keep in touch...I hope all is going well for you!!
Smile,
Donna
