Anesthesia???? Anyone remembers??
Tell your anesthesiologist that.
My last surgery (gallbladder) the operation went something like this:
Anesthesiologist: I'm just going to insert this.....(IV into my arm creating
THE BIG BLACK EMPTINESS in which multiple hours passed.)
Nurse: "Okay breathe!"
Me: (big inhale) I'm cold!!!
Nurse takes multiple blankets out of a blanket oven and covers me then wheels me back to my room.
My one and only surgery that I have had before, I don't even remember my throat hurting. So for me, and I would bet the majority, it was no problem. My husband had surgery last year and he also had no problem. I would not worry about being awake for the intubation, that would not happen, and for the extubation, you may wake up, but I HIGHLY doubt you will remember it. So rest easy, all will be fine!

I have been in surgery as an observer many times with Dr. Sonnanstine in Kentucky, I have watched lap gastric bypass, lapband and this week open bypass. The Anesthesiologist makes sure along with the nurse that you are well asleep before he inserts anything. The tube comes out immediately before you leave the OR..
You will be fine but let the Anesth..know you are weary, he/she will work with you that day, most of us were pretty loopy before being wheeled in to OR anyway..many don't remember going in at all..
Good luck!!

thanks everyone, I feel better now. It's just my doctor told me that they have to make sure you are awake for the tube to come out to make sure you can breathe and that scared me. I didn't want to remember anything about it. I had gallbladder surgery and didn't remember anything about it but for some reason I have worked myself into a tizzy about it now since he told me that. Oh Lord I hope that zanax work for hours!!!!!
