September 12th is my date!

I dont know what to think at the moment. I guess I didnt really think I would have a date so fast. I saw my surgeon last Thursday and they went ahead and scheduled my date because they dont think they will have trouble with my insurance company. Does anyone else have this date? Becky

Hi Becky... and Congratulations! I read your profile and I'm glad that this surgeon is going to work for you. Sometimes I get so frustrated at surgeons that won't give people a chance because they had a few people who had problems. But is sounds like you picked a good one! I'm a twelfthie too and you will find that there is lots of us. I can't even keep track anymore. If you click on Roster of Members (on the left of this page) it will bring up the names and surgery dates of all who've posted on this board. My surgery date is September 12 too. I am so excited but nervous too. I wanted to have the surgery soon but now I am kind of scared. All of my family keep trying to talk me out of it.

Cindy, I know it's got to be hard when you aren't getting support from your family. Then you don't feel free to share your excitement and anxieties and it gets all bottled up inside and seems to get bigger and unmanagable. That's why it's great you are here on OH, where you have a whole stadium of people who, as needed, want to cheer with you or hold your hand. You'll be in my prayers that your surgery goes smoothly and your recovery is speedy! Darlene

My switch just got switched (sorry, couldn't resist) from the 13th to the 12th---so I am a twelvie too! My dates came really fast too---first I was told late October and when that did not work for me, I resigned myself to January, only to be told there was a cancellation and they could get me in in 3 weeks! And then they put me ahead another day!!! EEEEEEK!!! You almost feel like you don't get a breath! Feeling a little nervous---I am a revision, know there can be more complications, and now I have a child... But I am visualizing success for me---and all of us! It's a good thing!

I know what you mean. My surgery is 18 days away, and I'm heading out in 12 days. Less than two weeks! I have three more things to do before then - my last pre-op test (endoscopy), get my visa back in the mail for Brazil, and get my report from the counselor for my psych exam. I think I have everything else.

Wow, BT, it's coming so fast! How clever of you to combine an exotic trip and a life-changing surgery is one fell swoop! I know the surgery will go well and I wish you a speedy recovery and lots of cute, sassy males nurses!

Well, looks like mine got changed too. I think it is for the best because I felt a bit overwhelmed with not really knowing for sure if the surgery date was going to actually be the 12th. I have been moved to Sept 26th. I feel better about this date. I will have more time to prepare for the time away from work and to get my house in order. I will have all of the others who will be having their surgerys on the 12th in my thoughts and prayers that day. Please remember me as well. Becky
