Counting down the days
We sound like kids on Christmas Eve!! Actully I feel kinda like a kid waiting for Santa! I look forwardto us all chatting after our surgeries. I am sure we will all have so much to share. We are so blessed to have this awesome opportunity! Many people draw up Living Wills prior to surgery...how did you go about that. I think it is a very good idea.
Take care all,
Barb
Many hospitals actually have copies you can draw up. They are pretty easy to fill out. If your hospital doens't have any, I purchased mine through a site (www.agingwithdignity.org) right after the Terry Schiavo fiasco. They were $5 a piece by the each or $1 a piece if you buy 25 or more. I went ahead and bought 25 of them, so I could give them to family members to fill out too.
Hi Barb, If you have been to the hospital lately at least in the State of Arizona they should be able to print out a blank one. That is what I did. Check with your local hospital. My living Will is a combined living will and medical power of attorney. The MPO is so important so that someone is appointed to carry out decisions on your behalf. Hope this helps. Can't wait till September Christmas either!
Hello Everyone,
It's good to know that there will be several people crossing the lossing finish line with my. My wls is schedule for Monday, Sept. 19 and like most of you I am excited and nervous at the same time. Lately, I find myself thinking about what to expect. From going to the pre-op appointment to the surgery itself and recovery. I know recovery is not going to be a cake walk but I am ready to start my new life.
Does anyone else find themselves think about what to "Buy" for the hospital (ie. night gown & robe) I told my husband and my angels that I don't want to look crazy in the hospital.
I am pray for everyone who is going before me, with me and after me.
Several post-op patience have told me that they don't have any regrets
and I don't think I will have any regrets either.
We have the same date scheduled. Yes, I have already gone out to buy slipe on slippers (easier to put on), a new robe and of course my cough beri buddy, and even a leisure bra that snaps in the front so that I can have some support but will be easier to put on plus a few other things. I even have some items packed in a bag already. That's not being anxious is it? Ha Ha I to have spoken to so many people who have had this done and though they say the first few months are difficult they have no regrets. I have a friend from Philadelphia, Pa. who had the surgery 3 years ago and has maintained the weight loss of 186 pounds and she is so thrilled with her new found energy. Hope our surgery is a success and best of luck to us all!
Deborah,
OK, OK, now I have the guilt thing working so I packed my bag and am pretty well ready to go to the hospital...oops, I need a cough buddy-guess I will grap my teddy bear !
Since I have a background in nursing I must suggest you take some warm fuzzy socks. People tend to have cold feet after surgery. Lip balm is a life saver too-your lips might get chapped from the anesthesia experience. I am more excited everyday! My daughter and I just went out for some pasta just in case I can't have pasta in the future. I am trying to be very careful but enjoying my favorite foods.
Please send prayers my way...I am smoking my last cigarette tomorrow and need some serious support to make it through. I am committed to being healthy and this is step one before WLS. I cannot wait to eradicate my house and car of cigarette smoke!!!
You have all been a godsend-thanks for being there!
Barb
