Plastics and Low Sugar???????

Hi everyone Well, I have been doing just fine. I went Thursday for my TT consult. The doctor told me that I am a great candidate. He said I shouldn't have any problems with my insurance paying It was a bit humiliating--naked pictures are just not my thing lol. It is all worth it though. I am hoping to have my surgery the middle of June. Just after my daughter is out of school. She is going to be 8...she will help Momma. On another note...last Tuesday I wasn't feeling very well. I started to get extremely shaky...I was attempting to eat peanut butter crackers at the time--I just wasn't feeling any better; so I went to the nurse's station ( I work at a nursing home) and had them check my sugar. It was down to 47. I guess this is way, way low. They were trying to get me to drink OJ with sugar in it....I refused...I did just drink the OJ... I told them the sugar would send my stomach over the edge, and it would come right back up. Has anyone else had this problem? I have an appointment with my Primary care physician on Monday. Her nurse thought I should be seen right away. I am a little concerned about this. Okay, enough-enough already Hugs, Tracy 328 surgery 155 goal 148 current

Hi Tracy, This happens to me ALL the time. I'll be doing something and all of a sudden I get all light headed, shaky and sweaty. Mostly shaky. I don't have a meter, so I don't know how low my sugar is going. I don't use sugar to get it up, I usually have a cheese stick and a s/f yogurt w/fruit and then I feel better. I do rest when it happens, too. I'm gonna tell my surgeon when I see him later this month. He'll want me to see the dietitian, I'm sure. Let me know what your PCP says, ok? I know of other RNY people that are having this, too. One told me the dietitian told her she needed to do more "good" carbs, 100gms a day, to not get it and to eat more often throughout the day to avoid it. Paula

I am sure the low sugar has happened to me too. I havent had mine tested either but girls in here told me to carry some candy with me and have a piece when it happens. As far as the tummy tuck, I just emailed a surgeon last week and this is what they said... Heidi: Once you are at your goal weight and not before, you would need to make an appointment for a consult to speak with the doctor. It is important to wait until you reach your goal weight because at the time of the consult, we take photos and submit them to the insurance carrier before any surgery is scheduled to see if they will pay for the procedure. So once you reach your goal, give us a call if you wish to make an appointment at 814-536-9000. Thanks. Tina So that will probably take forever...well maybe not, my doctor wanted my goal to be around 141, i wanted my goal to be 125

Hi Tracy - congrats on the plastics consult...I hope your insurance covers it for you - I get that same exact feeling - I was told that it is definitely low blood sugar...I carry a protein bar in my bag at all times - I can't really eat too much of it because when I am feeling that way I am very nauseas too...so I take a bite or 2 and I'm usually okay within a few minutes. We've changed our eating habits so drastically that our bodies just can't keep up with us ... I eat very very few carbs...(I think ) I really don't think it's anything to be concerned with overall - my surgeon told me that it's very normal for "us" good luck with the dr... Linda
