Hi Everyone,
1. Lap RNY, which my doc office said is the "Gold Standard" among surgeries and the only one they approve of for medicaid patience.
2. Greaterest change in my life since surgery?
No more huffing and puffing! That was SO humiliating! Well being morbidly obese
is humiliating in general. Oh and yep, crossing my legs is a definate plus, makes
me feel more "lady" like. lol
3. Hardest adjustment since surgery?
We all have this in common, not seeing myself as looking thinner. Then the other
day my daughter took a digital pic of me and said MOM! Wanna see how much
skinnier you look since you don't believe me? I was happy with what I saw.
4. Family and friends adjusted just fine. All are really happy for me. Now there are
some people at church who knew I had it and CONstantly ask me how much I've
lost NOW...looking me up and down...ick. Makes me feel so uncomfortable. Well,
I say, I've still lost around 110#...OH! They say, kind of tapering off then..well, you
still look pretty good. Well...thanks
5. How much have I lost? WHY do you keep asking? LOL 110# and need to
lose a bunch more but know it will happen in time. Habits are slowly changing.
6. Am I pleased with the results? YES!!!!!!! I would definately do it again.

I went from my highest weight known of 488 down to 260 so a 228 lb loss.
Way more then I expected,I figured if I lost 100lbs I would have succeeded.
6. Are you pleased with your surgery results? Would you do it again?
Yes and no, Yes because it was great and did what it was meant to do , and no because I am still at 2 something.
Some days I feel I failed myself...Not post op, but pre op, I think if I had only done this sooner at a smaller weight then by now now I would have been "At goal" like so many others, at least I have my family here to remind me that someone who starts at 2something can and eventually WILL get there
A September Folks Survey....how fun! Okay, my turn:
Lets do a survey just for fun.
1. What type surgery did you have, and why did you choose that kind?
LAP-RNY because I wanted to dump! Unfortunately, I don't dump! But still do not regret having chosen the RNY over the lap band.
2. What is the greatest change in your life since surgery?
Better question is what has NOT changed! I have more self-confidence, more outspoken at work and socially, people LISTEN to me now, i am no longer invisible.
3. What was the hardest adjustment since surgery?
Hardest adjustment is struggling with dealing with anxiety and issues that I normally would have dealt with by eating. Food was a source of comfort for me, now it cannot be, and so I'm trying to deal with anxiety without resorting to eating.
4. How has your family and friends adjusted to the change in you?
My friends do not know. Only 3 members of my family know I have had this surgery. I plan to keep it this way, I believe it has helped me succeed by keeping my anonymity. My family treats me the same, my friends treat me the same, maybe some of my guy friends treat me a little better, I don't know, but I hope not.
5. How much weight have you lost? More or Less than you expected by this point.
Technically, my highest weight was 227 and I am now at 124 so that's 103 pounds! From the surgery, my weight went from 215 to 124.
6. Are you pleased with your surgery results? Would you do it again?
Absolutely! I have the best doctor in the world! I am even encouraging my mother to get the lap band. It improves the quality of your life and your health especially if you have co-morbidities like she does (sleep apnea, apple body, high cholesterol)
