Funny comments some people make!
Hello sweet friends, well I've started up with my pilates and yoga after taking some time off to let my biontic knee heal, and it is. So I go to class today and tell the instructor that I just had knee surgery about three months ago so I will be modifying. Fine, no problem.
Then another lady said, I have to take it easy too cause I had a tummy tuck. So I chased her down after class and just asked her a little bit about it, where she went, etc. She hadn't had wls by the way. But I told her that I had and that was why I was interested in plastics. She looked at me and said, "you don't need wls surgery, you're so little. I don't know why so many people are doing that now when they are little'. So okay, I'm a nice person, I don't like confrontation, but I don't run away from someone who is so obviously misinformed.
I told her first thank you for saying I was little, I haven't heard that much in my life (by the way, I'm not little!!!). Then yeah you're right, if I weighed what I do now I would not have had wls, but I didn't, I weighed almost 300 pounds. More people are doing it because obesity is such a problem and most of us have tried everything.
Well by that we were at our cars, but it left me unsettled. I dont know why, I guess cause I felt I had to explain myself to her. I am going to take some before pictures on Wednesday and show her. Do I need to do that -- or just let the matter drop!!
I always tell people I had the surgery, I am not ashamed and I like to promote the good experience I had. But I can see why some people don't when there are ignorant uninformed people out there who like to give their opinion. And this wasn't even that bad -- I know other people have had worse experiences.
Sense of humor, please come back by Wednesday so I don't walk up to her and punch her out!!! So have you all had similar experiences??
love

Hi Donna,
I keep a before picture in my pocketbook and one in my apron pocket so I can show people. Because some will say "but you weren't that big". then I take out the picture and they say "oh my goodness I guess I forgot".
But some people are just rude. I have this one "friend" who always tells people "before Koukla used to be the fattest one now I am."
Nice huh?
But I do believe you should bring your before picture and show her. And enjoy seeing her mouth drop.
And your day will be made.
sincerely,
koukla

Donna Mae,
First you are little now!! And look fabulous by the way. I will post pics some day...sigh when I figure it out. But YES take the pic and show her how hard you have worked with your new tool to look fab.
On another note. This will be my last post for a week or so.. Monday is the big surgery day: Tummy tuck, hernia repair(BIG ONE) and breast lift. Be thinking of me as you go to bed Sunday night and then monday and pray for my lovely German surgeon who I am sure will do a great job. Hugs for now. Jacqueline

Too funny the other donna and I were just talking about not seeing ourselves as we are. I get those comments all the time. You dont look like you could ever be fat, the nurse giving my b shot said i was tiny the other day. I take it as a compliment but i also show people my before picture if its handy. I worked hard to get here and i want them to see how hard. Is that bad of me? I also get oh you dont need plastic surgery you look great. I just say yeah you havent seen me with my clothes off and that puts an end to it. lol
I told Donna we needed to all add a new picture this week I think we are all having the head issues with body image. I know I am anyway and i havent posted a new pic since April.
Hugs
