Ideas for snacks
I was wondering if everyone would post ideas for snacks that are full of protein that you can have at your fingertips that are healthy for you. I need more variety and I am sure with everyone wanting to lose weight we are all looking for better things to eat. I know I have been trying to eat complex carbs with protein so I have been eating a bananna and peanut butter together but I wonder if the bananna has to much sugar in it even tho it is healthy. This is where I get confused about eating. Thanks for the advice!!
A medium banana (about 7" long) has:
105 calories
27gms carbs
3.1 fiber
14.4 gm sugar
1.3gm protein...
Not the best food for us.
And, peanut butter isn't the best either.
Usually has lots of sugar and a good amount of carbs that nullifies out the protein.
Stick to low fat cheese and some reduced fat crackers...
Edamome (or soy beans) are great! I love em. I buy them in the frozen food section of the health food section (the shelled/loose ones) you boil water, pop them in (they're like lima beans) the water, reboil for 3-5 minutes and then drain. Spray with some butter spray and it's a tasty snack....they put them in the asian salad at McDonald's...loaded with protein.
You can also get them roasted like peanuts...
Lower or no fat dips and fresh peppers or cukes are good, too.
I've been on a "sneak downstairs" in the evening to get fritos and pretzels of late, so, I'm not one to ask!!
Buy some of those bars I sent ya. Those are 15gms of protein.

Michelle,
I love String Cheese and can get it with 2% milk instead of full strength. It has 8 grams of protein per string. I LOVE IT!! Easy and quick too. Great question. Jacqueline
Get some of those 1/2 c small sealer cups to take with you.
Raisins, nuts, chopped fruit, cottage cheese, yogurt, tuna salad, egg salad, veggie mix,
string cheese, cheese slices.
I think the banana is fine because your eating it as fuel before you work out witch is good because if you don't have the fuel to burn then the body burns the muscle, with the fuel the body will burn that while you exercise and then cut into stored calories and they will continue to burn when the workout is over.
