Do you guys realize that we are 15 months out from surgery, and we will most likely stop losing weight at 18 months? That's what my surgeon told me, the magic "number" was 18 months. I am happy with my weight, but it took me by surprise that so much time has passed already. I just wanted to give us a heads-up.

Hi Shannon, I've heard that too, but I tend to disagree. I think it's true that we have 18 months (or whatever) to lose in an easier fashion, but after that I think we can still lose but we have to work it a little harder. I am sort of a stubborn person, and I know that when my surgeon told me my goal, based on my age, was 175-200, I thought to myself, no way am I doing this to have a 2 in front of any number on the scale! I wanted to be 150. Well I am now 149-151, depending on the day. I went to my surgeon last week and was told I was the poster child for the office, and that I was a good example for all the other patients!! And -- he adjusted my goal weight!! So I guess my point is - I believe we are in charge of our destiny, it just will be a little harder. By the way, how are you, I haven't seen you around lately. I hear an ad on our radio to call to be a mystery shopper and I want to do that, but am skeptical that it's a scam. Anyway, I think of you and miss seeing your pretty face posting!! love donna

Donna Mae, Wish I could figure out the picture thing> I am a little slow with technology. I will work on it as I do have a few folks who can help me here. Thanks so much for all your support and emails. hugs, jacqueline

Hey Donna! how are you? You are so right! At my support group we talked about the expected weight loss with the surgery and for RNY my doctor says you can expect to loose 65% of your excess weight. Well, I've lost 100%. And I'm just a little proud of myself . On another topic, I've been meaning to email you and thank you for your comment about salary negitiations and women not asking enough. Based on your comment, I got another 10% out of my new company--I had some stressful moments and it was really hard for me to ask for that much....but it worked out. Thanks!! Courtney

Hello gorgeous! Yes, my doctor gave me such a silly goal, like I said, I just thought I need to do what I need to do!! Screw my age, and everything else. And for you little girl 100% -- wow, you are fantastic. And look at us - at totally opposite ends of the age spectrum, you just a young colt, and me an old mare!! Oh well, *****ally cares. And about the salary -- congratulations to you!! I just can't say that enough, and always counseled employees who were leaving our firm, that where ever they went to be sure and aim high!! It always made me mad to see men come in and ask for 70k for a job that a woman came in and asked for 45k and was so elated when we gave it to her. And trust me, companies do not really focus on the amount, more the experience!! And unfortuntely that is business -- low ball. But always remember, you can come down, but you can't go up. Oh, and another thing, it is always good to get hired at a high rate because your increases will be reflective. Some people would say oh I'll catch up with my increase, but 4% at 45 is very different than 4% at 70. Well enough of that. You can tell it is a passion of mine, and I was fortunate to be in employee relations for many years so I was able to do what I loved!! Take care Courtney! love donna

Totally agreeing with you on our own destiny! Our pouches are tools we will have the rest of our lives! I just remember before I had surgery thinking how long 18 months seemed, but it came and went so fast! I have been spending a lot of time over at the PS forum. Can you believe my breast reduction and tummy tuck are in just 10 DAYS??? I'm so excited I can barely contain myself Oh, and if you are hearing an ad for mystery shopping, then it's a scam! Don't do it, they are just trying to get money out of you for information you can obtain for free. Here is my website for all the free information you need to get started: mysteryshopresources.com {{{hugs}}}
