hi
Hi Ila,
welcome to Sept 2005 Surgery forum!! My name is Jacqueline and I had RNY Lap but decided to welcome you here anyway. I am doing very well after 14 months: including a total loss of 115 pounds and into a size 8 jeans. I live overseas working with Military Families in Germany so I had my surgery here. But I have been on this forum for over a year and the folks here are super friendly. I am so much healthier now and run 5 days a week 3-4 miles to keep in shape and am very careful to get my 80grams of protein a day plus the water plus vitamins. We'd love to hear more from you on this site and sit back and enjoy the support. This has been a very active site until the last month or so, but you will get to know a lot of wonderful folks. So, give us more about you: Are you happy with your results? Are you doing well? Do you feel healthier? Some of u**** snags along the way: Those horrible plateaus, cravings for certain foods, laziness and lack of exercise and return to OLD BAD HABITS. I have been supported by this group of folks throughout.
Again, Welcome aboard. Glad to have you. Come and write again, hugs from Germany, Jacqueline
Welcome, Ila...
I had open RNY on Sept 28th, 2005. I've done really well. I started at 330 and am now stuck at 200. I've lost over 130 lbs and feel wonderful.
I had no problem with my surgery except for nausea from the pain meds. My recovery was uneventful and I've done really well in the last year plus.
I stick pretty much to my good eating and get in my protein first then the veggie then the carbs.
I see my surgeon on schedule per his recommendations and the only real thing I had happen was a bit of an ulcer last summer which has healed with the aid of medications for 3 months.
How have you done?
It seems that at this point, all of us on this Sept 2005 board are dealing with body image issues (brain catching up with all the weight loss) and the snacking that's creeping up on us and the craving for carbs. We are each other's support mechanism and this forum is truly a god send for me.

Hello Ila, and welcome to the September board. Where have you been all these months!! We are a very welcoming group, and personally for myself (redundant speaker that I am!!) I find this board to be the most helpful of all the forums on OH. The thing I love about it is we are all in the same place, basically, facing the same issues (snacking, grazing, whatever you want to call it), flabby skin, dealing with people who are now treating us like people who are worth something, rather than fat blobs. It's a total mind trip, that's for sure.
I hope you come back and get to know us. By the way, I saw where you said you had knee problems -- I just had knee replacement surgery. Ouch!! Give me weight loss surgery any day of the week!!!
love

Hi Ila, I hope you keep posting and reading, and don't worry about the spelling etc. We are all very loving and supportive!! I think you're definitely not alone Ila, when you say you don't like to look at yourself cause of the skin hanging, but someone said the other day better to have it hanging than clinging to your body!! And that is true.
Take care Ila, and please keep reading and posting. I'd like to get to iiknow you more!!
