Hi everyone, I know this is on our list of 'don't take' but has anyone ever taken any, in small doses, since surgery? I have so much trouble sleeping at night with my knee pain and I take vicodin, but I sort of want to stop taking them. I know I'm pretty anal about what to take, but .... thanks for your help love donna

thanks Sandy, tylenol just doesn't seem to cut the pain for me, but I know in the past excedrin did. We're a mess, but we'll get through this!! love donna

Ssssssh!!! Dont tell,,but yes, I have taken the Excedrin PM, when pain in my legs was severe enough to keep me from sleeping. Doc said once in awhile wont hurt, its when you take it on a regular baisis.....it can eat away at the pouch and cause an ulcer... Shhhhhh..................

Hi Betsy, thanks for this -- it helps me to know that you've done it. I don't expect to have a lot, but just a few!! I sound like an addict!! love donna

Hey Donna, I know what you mean about tylenol not cutting it. I don't take ibuprophen (I think thats why we can't take Excederin) myself but my mom who had the same WLS takes it all the time. Her surgeon never even told her she couldn't take it. She hasn't had any problems. I would think if it was just once in a while it would be okay. Good luck hope you feel better quick!

I would think the tylonal p.m. would be o.k. I have taken excedrin for a few head aches. Maybe once in a while is o.k. just coat your pouch before you take it. I'm sorry your knee is still in pain. And you are not being anal about this. Koukla

Hi Koukla, thanks for your message. I agree, I think once in a while is fine, but I dont want to do it on a regular basis. Just to get through... love donna

Are you supposed to be in this much pain this long after your surgery? should you call your doctor? A couple of times, I've taken 1/2 dose of Nyquil, since I knew it would help me sleep. Now I am so sensitive to sugar that I took the dose and immediately lay down so I wouldn't get so nauseous and dizzy that I do with sugar. But it did help me sleep. I'm sorry you are having so much trouble...I'll be thinking of you.
