hey Donna, I'm sorry to hear you hurt. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I was on oxy condon briefly after surgery that is supposed to be ok for pain. I don't think it is a heavy duty drug, but probably not much more so than vicodin. I honestly can't remember if I'm allowed to take vicidin or not. But I was at my surgeon's office a week or so ago and asked about anti-infamitories because of my upcoming hiking trip. The doc gave me a perscription for something called arthrotec, which is supposed to be pouch safe.....my guess is this isn't strong enough for you right now...but maybe there is somethng else.

My doctor told me that vicodin is in the same category as tylenol... so its ok to take. I dont think it would cause an ulcer..that would be like motrin or advill stuff right/?

Donna, I wish I had been able to get on the computer sooner to reassure you. I have been taking Vicadin since before surgery and they even gave it to me in the hospital. I have never had any problems with it except that it makes me constipated. I actually probably take more of it than you do because I am on a pretty high dosage for my back. Just relax and take it easy, I am sure you will be up and back to your old self before you know it. Good Luck, Christine
