One Year Update
I need to get some pictures, but here's the one year update!
When I started this journey I was at my highest weight ever recorded, 450 pounds.
Since surgery, I've lost 226 pounds to weigh in today at 224 pounds.
I'm half the man I used to be. HALF!
Its been a long road. Cancer, sick wife, sick kids, financial troubles, and other things. Life didn't stop with the surgery, and it didn't candy coat my life. Some things are better, some things are worse. But overall... I'm happier.
Michael, good to hear from you. I hope things have taken an overall turn for the better. Can you believe that you have lost a whole overweight person? You can say that you have lost at least to petit size woman.... lol....
Have you been enjoying the canoe? Did you end up with the flying lesson's or with all that has happened that is still the future plan? Have you been able to train much? running, swimming and biking?
FYI you were such an inspiration to me, that I have also taken on the more physical activities. I enjoy working out now. I had recently had a Kidney problem scare and thought 'Hey if Michael was able to get through it than I know that I can', lucky for me it wasn't serious and I didn't have to endure all that you went through.
My best to you and yours
donna
I've not been as good about the training as I should be. My son was in the hospital the weekend of the triathlon, so I didn't get to participate. Also, because of the financial issues surrounding that, I've yet to start flying lessons, but they are on the table for the near future.
As for the canoe, I've not had a chance in the past couple of weeks because of my son's illness. He is, however, SIGNIFICANTLY better now and I may try this weekend, if I can dodge the thunderstorms expected in the area!
I've lost more than my wife weighs. And now that I'm in a large or x-large shirt, she decided it was time to diet and get to small for me to steal her t-shirts anymore.
Michael,
GREAT to hear from you!! I know life has interferred with your Weight loss Journey!! But although by weight you are "half" of the man you were, by LIFE, you are doubtless twice the man you were!! I am proud to say I know you however little that is and I feel privlidged that you have shared some of your painful journey here with us all. Best wishes for year two for you!! Jacqueline
