9/16/06 - One year anniversary

To all the Sept. 2005 babies. Happy 1st Birthday or Happy Anniversary. Whichever you prefer. Hopefully we will all keep to the program and continue our successes. 9/16/06 1 year anniversary 338 lbs. to 195 lbs. and hopefully lower height 5'6" I can't believe it's been a year already. Wow, what a journey. I have lost a total of 143 pounds. I feel like a new person. I never thought I would feel this way again. I am living life, instead of watching it thru a window. I can do things. I notice I no longer search for a parking space up close. I take the one that is further away and walk. I enjoy walking anywhere now. Before surgery I would sit in the car while my husband shopped. That wasn't living. I don't need to shop from a catalog now. This operation is work. We must work the program. I have noticed in just this past month that I could eat more, I'm hungry (maybe it's head hunger) and I have also noticed some after dinner snacking trying to sneak back in. I have also noticed I have been getting laxed with my exercise. One week I'll go 3 to 4 times then the next week I'll go one time. I do have to get the exercise back. And I have to control this snacking. That is very important. Snacking is what got me fat to begin with so I can NOT let that happen again. I will work on these. I am very happy I did this surgery. I would do it again in a New York Minute. I thank God that everything came out fine. And I also read somewhere "Don't give the devil a ride because then he'll want to take over driving." To me that means don't have a bad snack(eat badly) because then the devil will make you have other bad snacks (bad eating). (hey if it helps me - what the heck? right?) Well, I love you all on this board. You have been my lifeline. I'm not one to go to meetings and such so this board is my inspiration. Thank you all. Now I'm going out shopping to the Christmas Tree Shop. They have all these little everyday junks that is fun to walk around and see. Trust me - I would never go there before. Koukla, Congrats Girl! I am 5'6" too, may I ask what size you are wearing? I am snacking more too. I have always (since surgery), ate about every 3 hours. But now I feel like I eat every couple of hours even if I am not hungry. I have got to get control of this. Hope you have a wonderful time shopping....how fun! Congrats again! Tracy

Hi Tracy, I now wear a size 16 pants and a Large in tops. I too, eat about every 3 hours. If I don't have something I feel light headed. Today while shopping I didn't eat for a long time and I didn't drink cause I was too busy looking at things and then I got real dizzy and light headed and realized it was because I didn't eat and I wasn't drinking. So I left and went home and had lunch at 5:00. Have a great week end. Koukla

CONGRATS!!! keep up the good work and you know what you need to work on...i see that from your posts..but i know its easier said than done on some things..but we all have worked so hard to get to this stage...keep going dont dwell on the bad days...there will be thoses andd then there will be good ones..that youll be the best eater ever hahaha.. good luck in the next year to come... jen

Congratulations I'm not far behind you rebirthday wise but weight wise you are way ahead of me ! I too enjoy walking in the mall looking at things, but now I can't find anything I like..... I have a grandson to chase around which helps me each day. They sure do keep you active. A year ago I would be sitting on the couch hating the thought of getting up to do some housework or exercise. I still hate the housework, but it gets done faster Lets all do a for our new "lives" Sandy
