Ive been kinda down the last few days,,,mostly because I have stayed this weight for the last 5 weeks!! More than that,,Im up a pound, then down two, then up three, then down one...its frustrating!! Im eating all the same things,,protein , cottage cheese, veggies, beans, some meats, fish,,I cant figure it out! Im drinking too,,and even do a protein shake at bedtime in the form of hot chocolate... Constipation is a problem now too,,too much protein maybe,,,or not enough water.. I keep wondering if this is as far as Im gonna go with the weight loss..its been a year now. Ive lost 120 pounds, with a few to go to get to onderland. I want to see that number sooooo bad!! I keep thinking that maybe the fact that Im almost 60 might have something to do with it the slow loss. Anybody got any advice?? Or just plain old "misery loves company" type encouragement??

Betsy, I, too have gained and lost the same 2-3 pounds for the last two months!! I feel that I have been so close to my goal a million times only to see the scale rise again. For me, I have increased exercise time and intensity, increased protein and water, watched carbs, eveything I can think of. And ya know? I have just decided I will be where I am and that it is. I do not want to run more or faster( I already run 4 miles), and although I want to weight 155 or ideally 150, I am 158-160 and damn, I better just be happy with where I am. I weighed 274 exactly a year ago, so who am I to complain. I am 44 years old and can fit into a size 8 jeans. I am seeing a plastic surgeon on Tues Sept 19 and hope that I can lose some skin, which I have a lot of. This is IT. The final option. And ya know. WE have both done great things. Be postive and happy with where you are . I wish you the best and wish there was an easy solution (if you find the easy way or any solution, let me know) but for me...It is about ACCEPTANCE. This is where my body wants to be.. SO BE IT. I am healthy and that is IT. Best Wishes Betsy. Hugs, Jacqueline

I believe you're writing about me!! it's exactly the same thing with me. I've been the same weight +/- 3 lbs for 2 months, after losing 130 lbs. Constipation is my daily companion. It has gotten a little better now that I take 3 Colace at bedtime along with eating 3 prunes. I am going to bump up my exercise starting today and see if that helps a little bit. I'm with you!

Betsy, Your not alone. This week I have been drinking ice tea like crazy lately. I also put a scoop of the unflavored protein in a 12 ounces glass. That way Im getting more water and protein in me. I statred back on excercise again and Im trying to shrink my stomach back up. I dont think it is strechted. I just think I give my stomach what it wants. To much food and bad choices. Thats not going to happen anymore. I think you will continue to lose until 18 months to 2 years Hugs Barb

Sounds like we are all in the same boat ! I have yet to hit 100 pounds pre-op weight and am getting very frustrated but I do feel better than I have ever felt before. I weigh less now than I did over 25 years ago so that should count for something... I go visit my gyno on monday. I'm going to ask him the same thing I did my pcp. How much did I weigh my first visit to see him ! I have been going to see him since 72 so this should be a good one . This is a first ... I'm excited to go for my yearly gyn appt. Sandy

Hi Betsy, it really sounds like you're doing all the right things. You're eating good protein. I've tried the Colace before and it's been real helpful. I think we are all just going through a slump, but not necessarily at the end of our journey. Dont give up, we'll get there, and you'll see that 199 number that you want to see!! Oh, and since I am over 60 I don't think that has anything to do with it. Lots of the other young hotties on this board are going through the same stall. We'll get through it -- hang in there love donna

Hi Betsy, I am 53. I've had two long stalls of about 4-5 weeks each during the past 4 months. Just recently, with no change in my routine....I started losing again, and pretty quickly too. Try some flaxseed in your routine and your constipation should ease. Tooter has a tome about it on her site. Stay the course. You will make it. Jeannie

This is where I am at, too. I have been fluctuating between 153 and 155 for over a month now. I know my problem is that I just do not exercise, but a friend of mine at work is a personal trainer and he told me a few exercises I can do at home to help tone so maybe that will help. I know exercise is important, but as a basically single mom working two jobs plus running my own online mystery shopping business I just don't have the desire to do it, or the time! But I have got to kick it into gear and do it. Part of my problem is my enormous breasts, they cause me terrible back pain between my shoulder pains and it is debilitating. The muscles between my shoulder blades keep tearing from the weight. On the flip side, yesterday I was denied for my breast reduction by my insurance and am going through the appeals process. Just like last year with the surgery. I swear they have delay tactics as part of their policy, I have more than proven I need this surgery but they want "more". My doctor is going to do a peer-to-peer review with them next week and is confidant the appeal will be overturned. But I really can't complain, I weigh less than I did in high school and look and feel really good. I surpassed my surgeon's weight goal of 170 three months ago. I just really want to get down to 140 because that will put my BMI in the "normal" weight range. Shannon, 32 280/153/140

yep, thats exactly what's happening to me. except I go up and down 2 or 3 pounds. In a day. It is sooo weird. I think it has a lot to do with water weight. Today I was 171, 6 pounds away from goal. I realized that I still have 6 months in my 18 month loosing period so I have revised my goals to one pound a month....That has to be doable--right? I think now that we are so much closer to goal, we have to revise our expectations. As for constipation, I've found that stool softeners do wonders. As does benefiber. I was taking 2 stool softeners a day for about 6 months...Doc said it was fine. I've been weaning off lately but still take them occasionally as needed. Good luck

WOw, I guess we all are in the same boat weight wise,,that makes me feel better. As for the constipation thing, I do better when I take the stool softeners and drink SmoothMove tea, which I have been out of. I think Ill go to GNC tomorrow and get some. Ive made up my mind to start exercising more too. I gotta..I only need to lose an inch in my hips and all my 14's will fit!!! I did ask the doc how long I will continue to lose. He said 18-24 months, but that its really up to me, how hard do I want to work at it? So, Im gonna try and shake things up a bit. I do know that when I eat only protein, things slow way down and so I need to eat more veggies. there are so many that dont agree with me though! I cant eat salad yet, and that is so frustrating! I do ok with vegetable soup though, so I make that often. I guess the easy part is behind us, so its time to buckle down and work the tool!! Thanks for the posts everyone, you were all so supportive and helpfuyl, as usual! Thats why I love this board! Kepp on keeping on!!
