Linda, both knees!! Oh my gosh -- now there's a brave man!! But how wonderful the results, that's very encouraging for me. Thank you so much for that information. Yeah, I am going to talk to my surgeon, also I'm not sure, what about the pain stuff, I think and I know this isn't the way to spell it, but its oxycotton, I wonder if we can use that?? I'll have to findout. Thanks for your good thoughts and the information. love donna

Donna My brother inlaw had a complete knee replacement done and said he wishes he had done it sooner. He was afraid of the pain and said the pain he put up with from the bad knee was worse. It took a little to get back to normal but he was up and walking in the hosp and exercising when he got home (walking ). Good luck to you, keep up the water and protein intake to help you heal. You will do awesome!! Tammy O

Hi Tammy - that is sort of how I feel -- I know the pain I have now, but I always think I can work through it, and I'm not sure of the pain after surgery!! So thanks for this information. I am trying to up my protein though so that will be good. Thanks again for your message Tammy, love donna

Hi Donna, I usually just lurk here but I have posted in the past. I sorry I took so long to respond, but I wanted to wish you well with your knee replacement and tell you my wife's experience. She had both knee done at the same time. That's right, she didn't have a leg to stand on. She had the surgery in 2001. As a matter of fact, she came home on 9/11. She has done wonderfully and always stresses to people contemplating the surgery, you need to do the therapy. There will be some pain while you are healing, but it is a different and acceptable pain. And, doing the therapy not only strengthens the joint, but helps with the pain. My wife can do things she hasn't been able to do in years. And as others have said, she wonders why she waited so long. In another post, you mentioned about feeling old because you need the surgery. My wife was 53 at the time and her ortho doctor said that with all the baby boomers, he is doing more knees than hips. Again, good luck. You're going to do just fine. Bob

Bob, so it took me having knee replacement to get you out of hiding!!! What a treat to get a message from you. Thank you. Two knee replacements at the same time - oh my gosh!! What a saint. I feel like a whiner now for sure!! I do understand the therapy, and I am proud of myself that I tend to be a good patient, very compliant, so I'll do all the things. I met yesterday with the physical therapist at the hospital and they have a good system to get you started right away. I have to tell you this though, when they brought out the walker, the crutches, and the booster chair for the potty, I got tears in my eyes because I was so despressed about being that dependent. And that makes me feel bad because I think of all the people who don't have legs and here I am being a big ole baby!! Well Bob, thank you so much for your post! Now listen, I don't know when and if I'm going to have the other knee done, but please don't wait for then to post!! It would be nice to get to know you!! love donna p,s, Can your wife ride a bike -- if she wanted to??
