Back Pain
I have been dealing with upper (between the shoulders and neck) and lower (tailbone) back pain since March 1 of this year. I have never had problems until then. To date, I have lost 90.5 pounds (started at 246) and I can't figure out why I'm hurting so bad AFTER losing all the weight. YOu'd think it would be the opposite. I've been going to the chiropractor religiously since April (I've been going 3 times a week since July) and I'm still not feeling any better. Has anyone else gone through this? What is the solution? I do not have much loose skin, so I don't need any cosmetic surgery.
I've developed tailbone pain since losing so much weight. My surgeon says, "Welcome to world of being a thin person, it's part of the deal!" There's not much you can do for the tailbone except traction and heat. My choripractor (about 12 years ago) actually put on a rubber glove and went up my rectum to grab onto the tailbone and pull it back into place. It was curling under. The procedure hurt like hell and I almost passed out, but it did help a lot.
As for the upper back pain, it may be some arthritis setting in? How old are you? Do you take a lot of calcium? It's one thing that I have a hard time doing cause it constipates me so badly, but, it's crucial so that our bodies don't start leeching calcium from our bones and making them brittle and causing fractures when we're older.
Maybe you need a break from the chiro for a bit to see if it gets better on it's own. Sometimes too much manilpulations or PT can make it worse. My husband is going thru the same thing with his back and PT. The PT kills him when he's done.
Maybe a trip to a neurologist to see if it's nerve related or to an ortho to see if it's bone may be in your future plans.

Hi Farrah, do you work and carry a heavy briefcase with a laptop?? Do you carry a big heavy purse?? I know I overlaod my purse and of course the bigger it is the more I have to put in it, right? Well that is a big 'weight' on my shoulders and back and maybe you are doing the same??
The othe thing is you might just ask your doctor about seeing a physical therapist and seeing if that would help. I fell down my stairs about 5 or 6 months ago (due to the fact that since I lost weight I didn't need my blood pressure meds and they hadn't been adjusted and my pressure got so low I lost my balance and down I went!) but I sort of got a whip lash from that fall and has some pt and boy did it help. It took about 4 weeks but I haen't' had trouble since.
Good luck, and I know that hurts!

I have a lot of back pain too, due to falls, and STRESS. I too see the chiro quite often, like once a week now, was 3 times a week.
My chiro says due to all the weight I had lost my body is still getting used to the different gate, the way I walk etc...
You can even see it in my last months progress pic, where my hip looks rotated..
My hip rolled out a lot & causes a lot of pain....my Dr says it takes time, and says if I had the 144 lbs I lost I would be in SO MUCH MORE pain...but that doesnt help me now......
