Kelly, My daughter is taking me losing weight, meaning that she is now getting FATTER.... Just cause I can wear te same size shirt as she can, doesnt mean she's FAT. She can afford to lose some weight, but not a lot, she just needs to firm up her mid section. She has a totally different shape than me. She has NO butt, beautiful legs, but her tummy..oh... She is about 5'2 145 lbs, @ 13.. she can lose some.. but She is very conscience of what she eats, and I encourage excersize..

Tanya, Sounds like me . lol The other day I tried on my daughters shirt ( she likes them big also) and it fit ! She looked at me and " why you wearing my shirt ?" She is 13 also and headed down the same road as I did. Since I was heavy at her age I know that feeling when people tease you about your weight so I try not to be so mean. I have heard " YOU DIDN'T LOOK THAT BIG" when I tell them how much I weighed. My favorite " YOU LOOK TEN YEARS YOUNGER !" Sandy

My daughter has been very supportive for me through this all, but she has said mom your not susposed to weigh less than me. I told her for my frame and height I should be smaller than her. She is13, 5'3½ and weighs 141 - 142 but her frame is bigger than mine. her feet are also like an 8½ She likes that we are starting to share some clothes. I do worry about her gaining weight she is very sports active...and her doctor said that her weight is just about right. she worries all the time..I always hoped that my children wouldnt fall into feeling the way I did. Now my son who is 9, weighs about 133, he is tall for his age but we struggle with his weight all the time. His colesteral is high, he usually gains like 10lbs a yr. I think with football now, he is working out 3 times week and hopefully that helps. He doesnt worry about his weight as much as my daughter but we do worry alot.

Hi again guys, I hope you all didn't think I was being hateful writing about my daughter. Anything but. She's my baby! Thing is, she's only 5'3 like me and 230# or so. That gives me alot to worry about. My parents and siblings, grandparents, etc. have all been obese and it's a real struggle. My other two kids are both thin and take after their dad, lucky them! They can eat like a hog and not gain, poor Ashley thinks that sucks...I do too. Anyway, I read responses and hoped you all didn't think badly of me. Take care, Kelly

Kelly , I know that you are just thinking about your daughter. That is what we mom's do .....Worry ! My other children never had trouble with thier weight but my 13 yo may develop problems later on if I don't give her my "hindsite" from my past. I was always a heavy kid and was teased alot. I don't want her to have the same thing happen to her. And I know that you feel the same about your daughter. Sandy

I absolutely hate the stories about someone's friend's uncle's sister-in-law's cousin who had the surgery and died. I suspect that most of these people never really existed--although certainly it does happen. I hated it more before surgery than I do now, but it still annoys me.

Haha this was a good topic... I don't have to many negative comments to report.... The nurse at the hospital while moving me to my bed right after surgery said "Oh you're a little one" Not sure how to take that! I had surgery at Barix, all they do is WLS, and the nurse still said that! My boyfirend's cousin asked me if I changed my hairstyle! I've had people tell me to stop losing weight when I had only lost 20 pounds. I didn't and still don't tell many people about my surgery because I don't wanna hear those whisper down the lane stories of so and so who got sick/died/gained all the weight back, but my boyfriend has a big mouth and told some of his coworkers, so occasionally he brings home one of those stories. I generally get positive coments about losing weight and from the people who know about my surgery, I hear that I'm a happier person now. Some people choose not to dicuss it or even comment about it, they probably think I took the easy way and are jealous, but oh well.

I get alot of "you were never fat" or "I never saw you that way"(after I showed them my ID card. I can't believe people actually think I beleive they didn't see me that way, but they are serious when they say that it. They said my personality outweighed me and they never saw the weight, but I sure felt it!! MY sons friends come over and talk about how they want to take me out! They are awesome kids to make me feel so great! I know they were just kidding but it sure made me feel great! I have been lucky and haven't had to many negative remarks about the surgery. I think I am harder on myself than anyone because I still haven't made it to goal. ::
