POLL; Stupid things people say after you've had WLS>
I've had quite a few but here are a few of the prize ones -- share yours!!
You're going to look old if you lose any more weight (a 'good' friend of mine who has always been thinner than me and now isn't!! -- oh, guess what Karen, I am old, just the same age as you honey!!!)
I couldn't have THAT surgery because I just wouldn't do anything harmful llike that to my body (the lady at Safeway who easily weighs 300 lbs! -- no, don't do anything harmful like a surgery that will save your life!!)
What fun is life if you can't go to a buffet and pig out (my mom's friend that I saw in San Diego a few weeks ago who is very overweight, ha ha -- what fun is life indeed!! How long do you have June, and I'll tell you what fun is life!!).
But one of the BEST things!!
Wow, Grandma you look hot!! (from my 17 year old grandson!! Thank you Calvin!)
love

HI Donna,
Hope your day is going well. Im getting ready to walk out the door. I have so many things to talk about on the subject. People can be so cruel. The worst I have heard is before my surgery was. I heard gastric bypass people really stink !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dam that pissed me off. I am cleaner now than I have ever been. It was someone trying to scare me out of surgery. Naturally one of the jealous ones. I seen my sisters the other day. They look alittle chunky. I ask them how heavy do I lok. They said 130 I dont know if they said it to be sourcastic or just seroius. They are always on diets now. Have always made fun of my fat behind me back. They use to rub under my chin. Guess what My chin is smaller than theirs. I want to rub under theirs but. Im not that cruel and rude. I know how it feels.
Hugs Later

How bout...
I don't have the time or energy to waste on spending a year trying to get the surgary...Hello, get the surgay and youd have enough energy todo it eveyday of the yr...lol
I wouldn't have the money for all the "special food" you eat after the surgary...Is there special food, maybe thats why I only lost 170 lbs this past yr I been eatin normal food all this time.
I would never mark up my body THAT way....Thos one came from a girl with tatoos, piercings, and skin tags from the pcos she developed after gaining 200 lbs.
The Good things?
Wow babygirl will never have to grow up ever knowing a fat grandma...(I think this was a compliment...lol)
Neet everytime I see you , you have more and more lap to sit on.
And the one that makes me almost cry is WOW I can get my arms all the way around you when we hug isn't that awsome!....Helll yeah !!

I can honestly say that there haven't been too many negative things that I've heard this past year. There must have been some, but, I guess I've been so determined to do this MY WAY, I ignored whatever was said.
Oh, I'm sure tons have been said in back of my back, but, I don't know.
Bob heard the day before surgery, "You're such a strong willed person, why don't you just diet on your own and do it that way?" He said back, "Well, I'm tired of yo yoing back and forth and want to end it now before I die before I turn 50, like every other Hepler man has in my family for three generations." JEEZ
My favorite...Mama, you look sexy in that nitegown!....from my 5 year old son! And that was at only 6 months out!
Now, I hear, My gosh, I did not know it was you, I can't believe how different and wonderful and YOUNG you look!
And...I love not going home depressed after shopping because there was nothing in my size and nothing fit. Now, I have choices and love it when a size I try on is actually BIG!
YEEE HAAAA
This is great!

Let's see:
I guess you can't go out to eat anymore. (And why not????? I eat out all the time, thankyouverymuch!)
You don't need WLS. (Well, yeah, not anymore! *lol*)
I've heard it doesn't work. (Re-e-e-e-ea-a-a-ally - well, my scale & my blood tests disagree with you)
But mostly I've had great comments - most of the people in my life have been very positive & supportive so I don't get many of the dumb comments.
i hate when people say that they lost their weight the right way...or the hard way...that urks me because this is the right way for me and it really wasnt all that easy to have major surgery....you people here are the only ones who understand...
it wasnt easy....but it was right for me.
they say they lost weight the old fashion way with excercise and diet...IM LIKE HELLO>>>>>i excerecise and i am on a diet more than they are.hahahhaha
stupid people think they know everything !!!!
haaaaaaaaa they are clueless on the journeys we all have taken...and we need to stick together.

You know, I can't really think of any rude comments off the top of my head. Everyone I know saw my sister go through it and have good luck six years ago. BUT, I am embarassed to admit it NOW but when she had the surgery, I saw her shedding all this weight and try to give me advice on losing weight myself...ew, I have to say I accused her of taking the easy way out. Left me stuck in the mud. Yep, you could say I was jealous. THAT'S over now, thank God. However, I have a new situation. My 18 year old daughter is currently heavier than me. I was afraid of this and truly think that's why I continually sabotage myself. It's just that seeing her weigh 50# more than I did at her age and she doesn't care - it scares me. I try to advise HER... She doesn't take it too kindly. I just know that she's gonna end up weighing 300# and be miserable if she doesn't get it under control. It kills me and I promised her a few weeks ago that I'd shut up about it, because it really hurts her. I don't gripe or put her down, just try to get her excited with me, ask her to go on walks with me, etc. She knows whats what and I guess I'll have to just wait and see if my influence changes her mode of thinking. So, okay, this wasn't supposed to be this long!
