Is it me or ??? Last week I thought I broke my stall. Went to 229 but that was a one day thing. I am now stuck at 231 and getting frustrated...I have been wondering about "memory" Could it be that my body "remembers" me sitting at 231 for a while and just wants to "remember" what it's like ?? I have to admit that I haven't been walking as much . If I do a lot of walking my hips have been keeping me up at night. If I snack , I try to have fruit, grapes, cantelope, watermelon, nuts ,things like that. Is anyone else stuck ??? And what have you been doing to get moving ? Sandy

Hi Sandy, My weight loss has slowed of late, also. But, because I had to do the liquid diet for my ulcer a few weeks ago, it jump started me again. I think you may be having too many carbs. There is a lot of natural sugar in fresh fruit. Limit the quantities and portion sizes on those. I think our bodies are so damm confused as to what we've done to it in the last year, it doesn't know if it's up or down! I think when it stablizes at a certain weight for a while, it (our body) thinks we're done losing and holds on to that certain weight, even though we want to keep going down. It's then that we have to UP our cardio to blast our metabolic rate back into gear and get going again. Can you get into a pool for exercise? I'm joining two water classes. One water aerobics, and one water walking (where you put on a belt and use foam dumb bells to tone). This way, it's a lot less stress on the joints. Hang in there...you're not doing anything wrong, just in that one year out slow down. My surgeon just spoke about it at a support group last week. He says to kick up the cardio, no matter how tired or sore we are! Yeah, right...and I have two kids home all summer! HA paula

Thanks Paula, we have an above ground pool and if it isn't 86 I don't go in. I'm gonna try getting to the rec center more to get moving. I'm going to have to do more "water loading " I don't think I'm drinking as much as I should. Water anyway. I do alot of the cl tea. Sandy

You can water load with any calorie free beverage. Just gulp, as fast as you can, 10-15 minutes before your meal and it fills you up. You'll know when you're full, you'll feel like you'll want to throw up! It sends the lower intestine right off of the pouch into spasm and fills you up easier. You can do this in between meals if you have a snacking urge. If you pass a donut and want it, chug a lug your water first, I bet you won't want that donut afterwards... Yes, get swimming and to the rec center. We all have to, and before you know it, we'll be sitting on our asses making excuses cause it's winter, again!!! paula

I agree...those carbs/sugars in that fruit can really do me in! I understand about your hips...maybe if you get back to 'protein forward' and drop a few more pounds, then it won't hurt so bad to walk more... Good luck! Pam 282/152/145

Hi Sandy, You started out about the same as me, I didn't realize that. I have been fooling around with the same 228-230 for a few weeks now. Not sure why, crazy I suppose. If I'd just get down to 225, my status would change from morbidly obese to very...which is awesome. If I get to 226, I'll have lost 100# since my highest weight before surgery in mid-August. grrr. I need to get with it! I know we have a certain set-point in our bodies that our bods don't like to go below. I was for sure mine was 300 for a long time. My problem in reality is bad food choices and not enough exercise! I am not an example to go by, to be sure, but just wanted to say hi and you're definately NOT alone. ~Take care, Kelly

Hi Kelly, When I get to 221 it will be 100 lbs for me as of pre surgery weight. But I count every pound so I was 334 when I went in for consultation so I'm counting that also....Every little bit counts..... Sandy

Hey Sandy, I wanted to chime in that I have a quick gain or unwanted stabilization with too much fruit. My body is very sensitive to "calories in-calories out" and fruits just have too many carbs forme. I'm at goal but fluctuate noticably when I eat fruits. I know that your hips hurt from reading the PA boards. How about an upper body exercise routine? I know of many videos that are specifically made for folks who have lower body injuries. Some are made for those who are wheelchair bound. This would avoid irritating an already painful area of your body. Sleep deprivation and pain doesn't help either, as it places undo strain on your already taxed system. Good luck! How about knocking your proteins up a little also? I keep mine between 76-80 grams per day and am 5'8" tall. ***Shauna*** *G*O*A*L* 253/145/142

Hi Shauna I am still walking but take the tylenol arthritis formula before I do. I'm trying to boost my protein up but found out that if I don't do the liquid protein I don't get that much in. I have been using the bands ( when I can get them from the baby ) I just have to get into a daily routine. Sandy
