Today I am 11 months out...so dh and I weighed today and I am at 215!! 110 lbs gone forever!!!! We went to Cracker Barrel last night and I ordered a hamburger steak (1/2 lb before cooking) with hashbrown casserole and sweet carrots...I was able to eat about 3/4 of the hamburger steak and about 8 carrots (baby carrots) and about 3 bites of hasbrown casserole. I was not full, but knew not to eat anymore....does this sound okay? I see my surgeon again on Thursday after my endoscopy, so I plan on discussing that with him...I'm also hoping the endoscope can see what the size of my stomach is. Please give me some feed back on this amount of food! ~~em 9/15/2005 pre-op: 325 11 months: 215 goal: 150 (wishful) 175 (realistic)

I'm finding what I can eat at any given sitting varies wildly just now. Sometimes it seems like I can eat a ton and at others I can't eat anything and get sick. I think it depends on the food. I'm trying not to worry about it. What you ate sounds like something I could.

Emily, That sounds pretty much like what I could eat at dinner. Good job with protein first.

the other day i had 2 soft tacos....with just meat and cheese.. but 2...now today i could only eat 1½ chicken tenders.... So I don't know if it is too much or not.

It is just plain strange that the amounts we are able to eat varies so much...but maybe it has to do with the length of time since we ate last? I mean, the stomach is a muscle right? ~~em

Sounds like a good amount of food to me at this far out. My surgeon just told me two weeks ago that it's totally normal and expected at this point for the stomach to be stretched. This is why we have to watch our in between meal snacking and to make sure that our meals are good, "well rounded" meals that include dense protein, good carbs and veggies. No soups, and soft food, for it spills right out and makes us hungry again. Be sure to water load 15 minutes before your meal (gulp as quickly, as much water as you possibly can to send your pouch into a spasm and give it a full feeling, you'll eat less). Paula
