ANYONE A SLOW LOSER???
Good morning. It seems that my weight loss has stopped or seriously stalled. I started out at 240 and I am down to 170. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled that I lost that much weight. But the past couple of months, has been a pound here or there. I would like to lose another 30 pounds. I watch what I eat, exercise at the gym at least 3 times a week. I understand we can lose weight up to 18 months, is it still going to happen. Years ago I weighed consistently at 170. Is my body comfortable there? Are the last 30 pounds harder to lose, especially when you are getting closer to your goal??? Is it harder to lose when your over 50? Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated, because I am getting bummed out ) :
Good luck to you all,
deb
Hi Deb,
I am about the same as you, I started out at 248 and as of today I am at 168.. my doctor said i sould average now about 3-5lbs a month. sometimes it dont even seem like that. when did you have your surgery? I think it is normal to slow down. maybe you could add a little some thing different at the gym to sake things up.. anyhow good luck.

Well,
There is no simple answer to your questions. Yes as you get closer to goal it is harder to lose. Yes, as you get older it gets harder to lose. Yes, if your body is comfortable at 170, it is harder to lose.
The only way I know how to get around these YES answers is Increase Protein and intensity and frequency of exercise. I am stuck, too and find that when I really pay attention to increasing protein, and really attack exercise, I loose. I am with you though in that in the past three months, I am lucky if I have lost 3-5 pounds...But again, I am still loosing and that is so exciting.
I have recently increased my exercise to running 4 miles 4 times a week and 3 miles once a week plus swimming twice a week for about 40 min. That is 7 days a week!! and yes, It helps. I am getting at least 80-100 g of Protein a day and of course the water...over 80 oz of water a day. After a month on not loosing an once, I recently went down two whole pounds!! and believe me after watching the weight seem to melt off for the first 6 months of surgery, I feel like i nearly killed myself for those two pounds( Giggle giggle) But No magic answer except hang in there and join us as slowing down. Take care and keep at it> Jacqueine
I have been at the same weight for a few weeks now. I have to admit that I haven't been doing my walking. It's been too hot and to top it off the grandson has decided he wants to walk not ride in the stroller. I'm going to have to change from am to pm walking. I have been going in the pool and doing leg exercises though. I am not ready to give up though. Last time I weighed this was 22 years ago !

I definitely feel like a slow loser. I started out at 394 at six feet tall and although I'm thrilled to be down to 274 now, I thought I'd be more like 225 at this point given I started out as a heavyweight with a BMI of 54. I know I need to up the exercise, and cut the carbs, which are too easy for me to tolerate. I'm good about my protein, at least, but need to be more mindful about limiting the easier to digest and tolerate foods.
Good luck to you and your final 30--hang in there! Sounds like you are on the right track.
welcome to the stay at the same weight club!! I have been bouncing back between 5 lbs for a while I have only lost 9 lbs since Feb. I started at 245 and I weigh 176 now I can't seem to go down any further than 172 then I bounce back up to 176, its very frustrating and I have little things like looking at before and after pictures on the beginning of this website that remind me of where I was then and where I am now, some days it helps sometimes it don't. I am trying to get back to basics like not drinking after I eat for an hour instead of 30 mins. If you need support and motivation I am better at giving it than taking my own advice
slow would not be a word I would use at this point in my journey...DEAD STOP would be better (lol) .. I bounce between 3 & 5 lbs and don't ever really seem to lose anything. I think I am losing inches (I feel it in my clothes) but I am not losing pounds
I think that my exercise regiment needs an upgrade or a good shake up...I go to the gym 5 days a week but I am doing the same things...so I have decided that this week I am going to change things up a little...tonight instead of the gym I am going to walk somewhere around 3 miles...gym on Tuesday...walking on Wednesday...gym on Thursday...gym on Friday and Saturday morning I will get up and walk 5 miles (unless it's over 90 degrees outside)..
I have lost 111 lbs since this adventure began and I still have 40 lbs to go (300 start 189 now) -- I am not ready for this to stop!
