Probably an ulcer
Well, my stomach pains got the best of me this morning and I was crying hysterically and after hubby left for work, he called my surgeon's service while in the car (I didn't know it) and almost immediately, the surgeon called me back asking what was wrong.
I told him of all the pains I've had and how I had tests last week while he was on vacation and he said it sounded just like an ulcer probably in my pouch. He called me in two prescriptions and ordered me on a full liquid diet (not to worry about protein) and to see him in the office tomorrow.
He was going to get to a computer and call up all the xrays and tests that I had done and was going to review them. If he saw something out of the ordinary he'd call me right back. No call, so, no news is good news to me.
I'm kind of hungry, but more exhausted from not eating. I need to drink some more. I can't get dehydrated and end up inpatient.
I'm going to make some broth. I bought all fruit sugar free popsicles by Edy's and will have one of those also.
The meds are a pain, I can't eat or drink for an hour after I take it and I have to take it four times a day. The other one, twice a day. The 4x one is liquid, the other is melt in my mouth. Not too bad tasting.
I'll let you all know how it goes after I see him tomorrow.

Paula, what a fantastic doctor you have!! And husband!! How great that he called and is researching it. I guess if it's an ulcer it's the lessor of evils that it could be right? Maybe just some stomach medicine and you'll be good as new
Please keep us informed,I'll be curious as to how you're doing

I feel your pain, literally. I have 3 ulcers at the connection to the pouch. I was on Caravat and Protonix for a couple of months, then more recently just protonix. A couple of weeks ago the burning and the pain every time I ate started again. Last week I anything solid I ate hurt - so back on the Caravat for me. It sounds like the liquid you're taking, personally, the taste makes me wanna .
Feel better and don't stop the meds!

Dear paula, I'm sorry to here you have an ulcer. I was just diagnosed with one last month. It is called a marginal jijunal ulcer and I researched about it. It says 25% of people can get this after surgery. Said something about sutures in the stomach not healing right. I am now taking zegerid 40 mg. Once a day. It is a powder that you mix in water. It works great. If I miss it my stomach lets me know. I have to have another scope in sept. To see how it is doing. I hope you will feel better soon. I am findind I can eat better too.
Good luck,joyce
