Update on the MIA Michael...
Alright, the sweet Shelly called me out, so here I am.
Here's my story!
As far as I can figure, I musta recovered fully from the cancer back in February. The doctors still tell me I don't need chemo and I don't need radiation, so that's good.
On the WLS front, I couldn't be happier. I'm down 216 pounds from my high and 194 pounds from my surgery weight. I'm 14 pounds from goal.
I have energy like I would never believe. For my birthday a bunch of friends got together and bought me a canoe. I've been out on it as often as i can, including trips after work, just because I can. You can read about my canoe trips at http://runwolf.livejournal.com although I'll try to start posting them here too. My last trip was basically an 8 mile hike carrying the canoe... NOT FUN. But then again, this time last year I couldn't DREAM of doing that, so I'm not complaining!
I'm going to have to give up on the triathlon. Not because I can't do it, but I can't afford it. Between the WLS, the cancer and a strange illness last april, I missed over a quarter of the year from work. We're just flat broke. Not out on the street broke, but no extra money. Add to that two growing kids, and my brother has a new baby, and I just can't afford the entry fees and a new bike needed to compete in the tri. Maybe next year... no for sure next year.
Other than that, I'm headed up to Memphis tomorrow morning to see my new neice. And when I get back, maybe I can do a call for updates. And we should get a chat up sometime to all catch up with what's going on!
I read a bunch of posts. To those who have been sick, I hope you are getting better. Congrats on everyone's continued success.
Hello Michael,
Nice to hear god news all around for you finally for a change.
God knows what he is doing by not letting you go through all you have this year AND doing the tri , next yr you'll be more recovered and healthy and fit to do it.
Hmmm an update ...is it to late to starve off about 10 lbs.........hehe
Hugs,
Shel
