I have an appointment tomorrow with the head of plastic surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center here in California. I have my recommendation for a breast reduction and tummy tuck (both from my PCP and Physical Therapist) in hand. I am very excited, and am hoping the plastic surgeon will agree with the recommendations, and then of course getting the insurance approval. A word of warning - getting plastic surgery through your insurance is the same level of hoop jumping as was getting the approval for our WLS. Shannon 280/160/140

UPDATE: I have lost 120 lbs and have surpassed my WLS surgeon's weight goal. I had an appt with a plastic surgeon last Thursday due to severe back pain from my breasts (I have gone from a 48DDD to a 38DDD, go figure). Dubious honor - the HEAD of plastic surgery at one of the most prominent hospitals in the nation told me that, while I don't have the largest breasts he has ever seen, they are definitely the lowest hangest ones he has looked at! Anyways, they hang SO low that he can't do a regular breast reduction, he has to do a different one where they actually remove the nipple and regraft it on my breast, plus there are more scars. He said I would have zero sensitivity in my nipples and that I would never breast feed. I told him that since I have no sensitivity now anyway and don't plan on anymore children, that is was okay with me. My PS normally does the "lollipop" procedure, but apparently in my case he recommends the other procedure. He measured from my collarbone to my nipple, and the right breast measured 39cm and the left measured 41cm. He said that he can do the lollipop procedure for 35cm or less, but in my case recommends the other procedure. Of course I would prefer not to have the scar underneath my breasts, but at this point anything to alleviate the burning pain in between my shoulder blades will be a blessing. He told me there is an excellent chance on the insurance covering the reduction, but it was difficult to get them to approve the tummy tuck. If they do approve, it will only be for a pannilectomy and not an abdominoplasty. If I want the muscle tightening I will have to private pay $4K, which I just do not remotely have. He asked what size breast I would like to have, and I told him a C. He asked if I wanted to be a full C or a low C, and I told him a low C would be preferable. He said that my breasts would be very pretty afterwards and I would be happy, even with the additional scars. I thought he was an excellent doctor, so I am pleased with my visit. They submitted their request to the insurance company Friday, so hopefully I will hear something in the next 2-3 weeks. If all is a go (whether just the reduction or both surgeries) I am looking at a surgery date sometime in October. Now I am playing the waiting-for-insurance-approval game, just like this time last year with the gastric bypass!

Well this sounds like scary! In a good way, but hopefully everything will work out. Keep us posted on the insurance. My breast arent shrinkin as much as I'd like....I would love to be completely flat.. but I don't think I want anything done to them. I am very scared about a tummy tuck.. w/ the scaring and all.. but good luck sweetie
