Plastic anyone?

OK all, I do not post often but respond a lot and hope I can get some answers/suggestions/opinions. I know it has not been a year yet and I never planned on plastic surgery after RNY but the sagging is a problem and I am beginning to research Plastic surgery. Has anyone else begun to think about this? I have lost 115 pounds and am unlikely to loose more as I have begun weight training to try to gain some muscles. OK, So this is what I am thinking: Costa Rica Rosenstock Center for a Lower body lift and breast lift. I live in Germany so surgery in states possible too, but this place seems like a good one with years of experience with WLS patients and is not too expensive. Has anyone looked into plastics yet? I will not likely do anything until Feb of next year, but researching is necessary, I think. Plastic Surgery consult here in Germany resulted in surgeon who will only do one thing at a time and is quite expensive; over $8000 for just a tummy tuck??? Seems outrageous compared to other places. Anyone have a clue? Help me out. Jacqueline

I haven't done any research yet, since the 'best' plastic surgeon in my area won't even see you until you are 18 months out...he came and talked to our support group. I would be very interested in the Costa Rican place...do you have a website address? Thanks! Pam 282/159/145

Hello Jacqueline, the plastic surgeon that I want won't talk to you, too, until your weight has stablized and you are 18 months out. So that's about my birthday time!! I definitely am going to get a lower body lift, or at least a tummy tuck. The cost for the LBL is about the same as a used car!! I can justify it that way. Yes, I will probably have to turn in my retirement!! I don't mind the batwing arms, although ugly I can wear longer sleeves, my face is not that bad and I look at other old ladies like me and they look about the same even though they haven't had the surgery so I won't do that (maybe my neck, but not at this point), but my lower body -- can't stand that. A consideration for me is to go out of country. Could you do that? love donna

Jacqueline, I spoke with my surgeon at my last appointment and he said that I am a definite candidate for a total body lift...and I want implants ...so, I contacted a plastic surgeon here that I was planning on using, but he would not even consult me until my weight was stable for 3 months. My surgeon has two plastic surgeons where he is that he suggests, I will probably get their information the next time I am in his office (which is in Nov 2006). I am not in too much of a hurry to get it done, except for the fact that I am not losing clothing sizes anymore...my tummy just keeps getting lower and lower...it is yucky looking --but my wonderful dh says he doesn't mind....I'm just very aware of it. I would not consider going out of country, just for myself. I am mother of 2 young children...and there is no way I would be able to leave them and be out of the country for surgery....I barely make it for having surgery 2 hours away!!! I think it is just up to what you are most comfortable doing. I am going to make sure I know alot about my plastic surgeon...there are too many horror stories out there! ~~em

My PCP and physical therapist have determined that it is medically necessary for me to have a breast reduction for severe back pain (I am a 38DDD) and a tummy tuck due to rash problems under my belly and in my navel. I have a consult with two different plastic surgeons, one on July 31st and one on August 4th. I don't know what they will say as far as me not being at a stable weight, but since I'm not doing this for cosmetic reasons but for medical reasons I'm not sure how the WLS will impact that. I am past my surgeon's goal for me (170), and I really only have another 20lbs to lose to reach my personal goal (140). I figure if I can get the reduction and tummy tuck that will be at least another 5-10 lbs, right? LOL As far as my bat wings and thighs, they really aren't bad so I'm not worried about them. Yes, there is some loose skin, but I lucked out and it's not as severe as I have seen others who suffer from excessive loose skin. Keep your fingers crossed for me, because I need my insurance to pay for these surgeries. Shannon 280/160/140

Hi, I'm also cosidering Rosenstock, I have also looked at cosmed in Mexico and MednetBrazil, I eamailed the Brazil clinic about a mth ago and no response, so I'm not so sure to go with them, as for cos med I had an email back from the surgeon onlt 2 days later, so far happy with what I seeing. I have yet to contact Rosenstock clinic, but I intend to. I just want to hear from others who have been there. I you find any info let me know, and I will do the same. I am also planning on surgery for feb, I still want to lose 38 more. How do we know who to trust, there have been so many horror stories. Plaese keep in touch. Good luck with the research. Connie
