buying clothes
Well guys, we all have lost a lot of weight and most are probley ready for some new clothes.
So what I did was I did buy some new things from Kolhs and Walmart but I also bought from Lane Bryant catalog. And with that order I ordered all my old clothes but in smaller sizes. Sick. yea. but the brain is still in fat mode. My daughter couldn't believe I did that. It has been so long since I shopped that I forgot how to.
And when I was bigger when I found something that fit I would buy it in all the colors and the matching tops too.
But now I have choices. Who would ever have thought.
I have to go to a wedding soon so my daughter told me she will take me shopping for it since she does not trust me.
With one of my new Lane Bryant outfits on my daughter told me I look like an old grandma. lol -
It will take time but I will learn.
everyone have a great day.
Koukla
Koukla,
*Everytime I write your name, it reminds me of the old puppet show I used to watch on tv. Koukla, Fran and Ollie!*
To get back into the shopping habit, why don't you just go to Kohl's, the mall, Fashion Bug, etc. and just browse. Look at what the styles are (some are too young looking for me at the age of 42), but get an idea of what you may like to potentially wear. Maybe try a few things on. But, don't buy anything that trip. Sleep on it and then go back and see if you still like the outfit, then buy.
I do this now. I used to be the biggest compulsive buyer. I'd buy one shirt in every color just cause they had my large size in stock. (Well, I did it this year too at Lane Bryant, cause I love their tee shirts w/ 9% spandex and they only had limited sizes 14/16)
Now, I just browse and look around and not necessarilly buy anything. (A rarity for me).
My summer clothes are the most amount of clothes I've purchased since surgery. Four different pairs of shorts and about 7 tops. One pair of capris and a hawaiian shirt for a luau party we went to last week. And two swimsuits. Oh, yeah, a few packs of smaller underwear! I'm just not going to go wild on clothes until I'm in a solid size for a bit.
Let your daughter go with you shopping for the wedding outfit. She'll be a good opinion for you and your new size. We have to change our old habitual thinking and get out of our frumpy old lady clothes that we were FORCED to wear because they sold nothing else pretty for our sizes!
I REFUSE TO WEAR A TOP WITH FLOWER PRINT ON IT AGAIN IN MY LIFE! UNLESS IT'S MADE FOR MY AGE GROUP!!!
Good luck and happy shopping.
paula
Congrats Koukla! What a thrill, although I don't think I want to dress the way I had to before! Paula, I understand about no more flower prints. I REFUSE TO WEAR ANY MORE STRETCH WAIST-LYCRA LEGGING JEAN THINGS! ALSO NO MORE HUGE T-SHIRTS TO TRY AND HIDE MY FAT which were my main type of dress before surgery!
