Glad to see your post Donna, as I am having the same issues. I cant find very many protein things I can tolerate. Chicken, cottage cheese, cheese, and some beef. Peanut butter once in awhile,,egss maybe, some days they work, some they dont. No salad, the only fruits that I can do are strawberries and bananas,,applesauce once in awhile. The only veggies I can do are corn and green beans,,and beans once in awhile Like you I could live on the protein shakes,,but I worry about the carb content in those. Im losing about 4 pounds a month, this month less because of the wreck and all the IV's and swelling. I can do cereal, but Im afraid to, because of the carbs. I get worried because I dont get any veggies in,,,cant stand to drink V8 so thats out. I take my vitamins, Im getting bored withmy food choices thats for sure. Seems like I never sit down to a meal. Oh, I can do a baked potatoe once in awhile so I load it with cheese and bacon...then feel guilty because of the carbs. Im starting to feel like I am failing a t another diet..... Tomorrow is my nine month anniversary, and I have lost 107 pounds. I hope I keep losing..................

Hi Betsy, bottom line up front!! You will keep losing!!! Don't worry about that. Have you ever thought what if we just keep losing, how do we stop!! I can't imagine that problem, but it's something to think about!! So there are more of us out there than I thought. I thought I was the only one with this problem. Your eating sounds exactly like mine. I eat about two bowls of oatmeal a day - sometimes- and I know that is a lot of carbs. Betsy, I don't do any veggies!! None. But again like you, I could do a baked potatoe but worry about the carbs. Also, it seems like the carbs - crackers, potatoe, etc. - are so easy to go down and feel so good, why that can't be the case with protein!! Be sure and look at Paula's response to my cry for help - she had some good food suggestions. And maybe some more will come in. I really need it. I hope you're feeling better - and we aren't failing, we are just 'learning' the new process!! We're going to do it Betsy. love donna

Whew, I have to admit, I feel betterknowing Im not the only one in the boat!! I eat a lot of oatmeal too, and you are right about the carbs settling better. Why is that??!! I am gonna try some of the south beach stuff, that pizza sounds so good! I cant seem to do anything with sauce like gravy, even if its fat free. I used to slather gravy on everything,,and cream or cheese sauces. Now its a sure trip to the bathroom!! And I was a butter freak,,even used to put it on my steaks! I have to say I really dont miss it. Theres not any food I really want to eat, its just that I know I need to, and need new ideas. I appreciate all the support on here!! What would I do without yans??!! I know I will do better once this leg is completely healed and I can exercise again, another week maybe. That will start things rolling again. Yes, I have had people ask me how will I stop losing once I reach goal..it is something to think abut. A friend of mine had his surgery 3 weeks before me,,and he is 12 pounds below goal now, and said he eats what he wants, right choices of course. His doctor told him he will stop losing, bounce a few pounds and then settle in at his ideal weight. I hope thats true with all of us. Thanks for the positive input,,I needed it! We can do this! hang in there! Hugs, betsy

Hi Betsy, thanks for your interesting post!! It sounds like we eat the same!! That's one reason that I am afriad to try too many things, they don't sit well with my little pouch. But Paula gave another good suggestion on having shrimp. I have to ask her about that, it sounds like a good possibility!! And I am going to get the SB pizza today (hope the carbs aren't bad, I guess they're not or it wouldn't be SB!!). You will be dancing around in no time, little girl. Just be patient and let the leg heal. You've had a big deal with that!!! I'm like you Betsy, there really isn't anything that I am craving, I just think I need to be more flexible. We'll do this Betsy, like someone said, they just cringe when people say 'oh you took the easy way out'. There is nothing easy about this!! It's easy in that the weight is coming off, yeah, that's true, but we have to always be concerned about our vitamins, our exercise, our labs, our protein -- no sitting back and letting it happen!! But we knew that coming in, and this is what we want, and this is our success!! love you Betsy!! donna

Hey, Donna, How about deli turkey slices, they are not so hard as other meats. No fat re "fried" beans w/lo fat cheese or picante sauce? I also grind up leftover ham or chicken and add lo fat mayo, pickle relish, pimento peppers and make it into "Salad." cottage cheese improvement: 1pkg. no sugar added cheesecake pudding 1pkg. sugar free jello : any flavor small can crushed pineapple in juice 1 small pkg lite cool whip 1 small cottage cheese. Mix it up, yum. Lots of protein, a little fruit and tastes good. I do eat some carbs and to be honest, when I don't feel much like eating breakfast, esp I eat a piece of whole grain toast really well done and a small scoop of peanut butter mixed with 1 tsp flaxseeds. Tastes good and gets in the fiber. I am also at about 900 calories a day, but eat mostly food and only one or sometimes two protein dealies. Lose from 1.5-2 pounds a week except when I'm stalling and losing only inches (like this last couple weeks). Don't worry. Get as much variety as you can for now. We are still not finished with all this and its a process. Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, my other VA chick!! How are you doing?? Okay, so what do you use to grind up meats??? That's a new one for me. Is it like a food processor?? That sounded yummy. Oh, and the cottage cheese improvement - that totally sounds good, in fact like I would take it to a pot luck or something!! I have never seen the cheesecake pudding - what store do you find that in?? You're losing good Jeannie. And to be honest, I'm not complaining about not losing much. I think I am doing okay even though it's slowed down. I guess what I was saying was that some people say they think they would lose if they ate less, and I meant that wasn't always the case cause I think I'm not eating much, and not losing alot either! (but enough for me). Anyway, thanks so much for this Jeannie, especially the cottage cheese tip?? love donna

Okay, this sounds interesting. So do you defrost them?? Cook them?? What do you do with them? Do you put any sauce on them? Yes, I know you're thinking, what a boo -- and you're right, I don't know about shrimp except the kind you get in the restaurant!! love dumb donna

I don't think you are anexoric. Were you ever on Previcid or some other stomache acid med? My surgeon had me on it for 6 months. When I was on it I could eat most anything with no stomach upset...Now i'm off it and the stomache is a bit more finicky, but not much--I've always had the gut of steel. If you've never been on them, you might ask your Doc, if it is appropriate. Good luck, Courtney
