Hi friends, this isn't just a curiosity question, it's a cry for help!! I do not eat well. I have all my protein, at least 3 and most times 4 protein drinks a day I have not lost any hair at all, so I am getting in the protein I think. But I have trouble eating things. I can't eat meat, have trouble with chicken. Have trouble with salad. I can eat cheese. I can eat oatmeal. I can eat yogurt. I can eat eggs. I can eat fish but don't like it that much. So that is what I can and can't eat, and so you see my intake is limited. My husband is getting concerned cause he says he thinks I should be having more variety. I don't know. I never go over 900 calories. Oh, and for those out there that think lower calories equates to more weigt loss - wrong! I plug along at about 7 pounds a month, and this month might be even lower. So what do you all eat? Am I anexoric?? help - advice - suggestions??? Thanks!! love donna

I have the same problem. I eat cheese, fish, salad, veggies. Can't eat cereal, hot or cold it just pops back into my throat??? Yogurt hasn't been sitting well either, altho yesterday I tried Fage Greek Yogurt (130 calories 8 carbs which are milk sugars and 19 yes 19 proteins) and I did okay with it altho I only ate 1/2. Eggs forget it they won't go down. Red meat, I like it so I try, but everytime I do it gets stuck. I don't go near chicken or turkey unless it's lunch meat. I am forcing myself to eat 700 calories a day, not that I can't eat more I feel guilty if I do. Micha

Oh Micha, thank you so much for your message. I was feeling like a real boo with this. I guess it's normal, or at least normal for us. And some things go down, and then come right back -- and so I'm aways nervous when I'm I know what you mean, though, because I don't eat much, when I find something I can eat, I'm afraid to eat cause I might overeat!! love donna

wow I am in the same boat as you are with a slightly different story...I CAN eat but DON'T. I do 2 - 3 protein shakes a day .. I eat cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, fruit, "some" grilled chicken and I take my vitamins daily. I haven't had much trouble tolerating any foods but I am RARELY hungry. I am also not losing very quickly. You're losing 7 lbs per month...last month I lost 4! This is driving me crazy. I am still losing my hair (at a much slower rate, but it's still happening)...I go to the gym 5 times a week (everyday after work) and I walk 4 miles on Saturday & Sunday... I have no desire for food anymore...I'm not tired of what I'm eating at all...I would like to spice it up a bit but I am paranoid to eat...I know it's a "head" issue with me but it seems one that I can't get passed. It feels way too good to have finally hit ONEderland (this morning) and be in a size 14 pants and size large top...I am just so afraid that it will all come back if I go back to eating I would have no problem surviving on protein shakes and would do 4 or 5 a day (I actually like the protein I use) but my surgeon says that I NEED to eat "real" food... any suggestions for me? Hey Linda, you're asking me for suggestions!! I'm like you, I could easily live on protein shakes. What kind of protein do you have?? And I am afraid that if I do find things I can eat I'll eat them and go back up. I (and I suppose everyone else here) have never been successful on any diet. This program has got to got to got to work!!! I forgot cottage cheese, I can sometimes have that. I don't mind being in a rut as long as I'm healthy and not hurting myself. I guess your surgeon is right, we do need real food. love donna

Hi Donna, Have you talked to your dietitian and surgeon about this? At this point in time, we shouldn't really be having too many protein shakes at all. Maybe one a day. It just slides through our pouches and doens't keep us full, and will slow down weight loss. I can't really eat too many carbs at all. Cereal is bad, pasta is bad, etc. I do have a milk intolerance since surgery and don't drink it either. Sounds like the things you do eat are protein rich, so that's good. Hard boil some eggs and keep them in the fridge to grab when you need something. A lot of people have trouble with chicken. If you eat the dark meat and have it sauced up, it's better. Beef is my best friend since surgery, as it's the easiest meat for me. Go figure. I do cheese, but 75% light by Cabot. Anything else makes me dump from the fat content. Can you do cottage cheese? I do the South Beach frozen meals and entrees too. The breakfast wraps and pizza are very good. The pizza is 30 gms of protein. Kind of high in sodium (all frozen stuff is) but, when you can't think of anything to eat, it's good. Hope this helps paula

Hi Paula, I was counting on you honey, to give me some good tips!! Thank you. No, I haven't talked to my doctor or dietician. I go next month, and was sort of holding off. That is new news to me about not having so many protein drinks. I thought I was doing good!! Yikes. Carbs are not my friend, I know that, but I do eat a lot of oatmeal. In fact other than protein drinks during the day, I'll have maybe two bowls (one a.m. and one p.m.) and that will be about all I eat of regular food for a day!! I wish beef were my best friend!! I used to love it. Now - it's a problem. I am also going to get the light cheese you mentioned. Yes, I can do cottage cheese (boring - how do you spruce it up!!). And the SB hints sounds good. I've tried some of the entrees and they weren't that good but the wraps and pizza sound yummy. Are they high in carbs?? I'll check them out tomorrow. Thanks Paula, you were a big help to me!! love donna

I make up the protine with equal amount of ff milk and drink it throughout the day. Some other things i use are cottage cheese, rocotta cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, potted meat, beef n beans like in a taco, penut butter, peaches, pears, blackberries Boy none of eat much do we.......lol My surgon is gonna freak next week, he had me add the shake just for the fact I don't get in much "food" so I don't think the shakes hurt too much at this point.
